Two ideas for crazy pairings of people

I have two ideas. Both are similar in that they involve mentally disturbed people finding the perfect partner.

The first idea is for a woman who is basically obsessive. A guy has sex with her. He really only plans it as a one night stand, but she wants more. He doesn't have a girlfriend and really doesn't mind having someone else to hang out with. He does enjoy being with her. Still, he does notice that she is gradually acting a bit obsessive. She is more possessive of him than one would normally expect. Her obsessive behavior gradually builds up.

We're talking insane obsessiveness along the lines of Swimfan (which I haven't actually seen). We're eventually talking extreme jealousy/anger if he even goes to a movie with friends. Now, the guy she is obsessing over realizes relatively quickly that his new girlfriend is obsessive. He even warns his friends (who also realize she's obsessed) that he'll probably not be able to hang around them much anymore. He explains that she loves him too much to want to share him. The important thing is that he was basically a loner before he met the girl. While he had good friends who would take him out to do stuff, he'd never actually really invite them anywhere. He was just as happy to sit at home watching tv, reading, or playing video games. He really didn't consider it a big deal to lose access to his friends as he just didn't consider other people especially important. Besides, his new girlfriend would let him do almost anything he wanted, as long as he didn't do it with anyone but her. So, he could still do the things he liked (TV, reading, video games). He could also have nice sex. She very much wanted to show him how much she loved him ;) Her obsessiveness eventually extends to not allowing him to have a job, but being supported by his wife (yes, they do get married) is not something that bothers him. Hell, he's lazy enough that being told that he shouldn't have a job is cause for celebration. At the end, he comments that he isn't sure if what she feels for him is love, isn't even sure what he feels for her is love (recall that he doesn't really have full feelings for other people). He is sure, however, that he has found happiness.

There are real people who are this obsessive. Alas, such people are likely to abuse the object of their obsession to force the love. But in the world of fantasy, such relationships can work.

2nd idea is much more messed up. Main character is an immortal and is the narrator. I suggest not fully narrating the sex scenes. This is best as a story...because I don't think most people will find this puts them in the mood. Maybe something akin to Breaking patterns would work well. She has powers, but she doesn't really use them to interfere with the world. She tries to sort of stay out of the way of the world. She is a rather strange fetish. She likes being killed. She comments that perhaps it would be more positive to say his fetish is coming back to life...but admits that the real pleasure is in the death itself. It isn't that she wishes to be dead forever, it's just the general feeling of dying. She doesn't expect to have a meaningful relationship. Lengthening someone's life with her magic is possible but sharing the fetish is not. More importantly, mortals really don't have the same perspective she, as an immortal, has.

Her solution to the issue of sex is to find (she just "knows" where they are) people who are going to rape&kill (she has no particular interest in force but there aren't any "make love & kill" people out there) someone for the first time and put herself in position to be that first victim. She doesn't kill them after they have her nor does she report them. As mentioned above, she tries to stay out of the way of the rest of the world. Besides, it isn't clear that they've technically ever done anything wrong. She comments to herself that perhaps one less person will die because of her but she doesn't really place that much meaning on life.

One time, she decides to give a go with someone more experienced. There's one rapist she's noticed who lies to his victims and says he won't kill them if they provide good sex and act like they enoy it. And this particular rapist seems to actually be trying to engage in half-decent sex. When he finds her, he actually notices she looks familar. She realizes she was his first victim, but he doesn't make the connection (his first victim is dead, or so he thinks!). She sees an almost guilty look on his face when he kills her. Unlike every other victim, she *did* do a good job and act like she enjoyed it. She's been screwing rapists for centuries and she's found that she better be trying to find pleasure in satisfying them because they don't care about satisying hers. Though this guy really does provide pleasure, she still does her best to satisfy him.

She takes to putting herself in position for this particular rapist. He can't imagine the possibility that it's the same woman but he gets into the habit of asking every girl he rapes (most of which are the same girl) if she has a twin sister. If it weren't for the fact that he killed his victims, he'd probably get a nickname in the press about this. Asking a hot woman about a twin sister vs. asking a rape victim is a strange contrast. Still, eventually the rapist does realize that he's raping the same woman over and over again. Eventually, he only rapes a woman if he recognizes her.

I have two thoughts for an ending. The first is that he's not really crazy (well, he would be by our standards) but just doesn't fully value life because he's an immortal. The two immortals fall in love and live happily ever after (and he keeps "killing" her). Alternatively, he, a mortal, confronts her and asks her if she's a demon sent to punish him or something. She responds that we all have are little quirks. His is to rape and kill. Hers is to enjoy it. They never really fall in love but he does continue to kill her for many years.

the first one seems like a twist on Fatal Attraction...as if Glenn Close killed off Anne Archer themn moved in with Michael Douglas after the funeral. *shivers*. Talk about Erotic Horror. LOL

Yeah, I realize this. Swimfan is basically the same as Fatal Attraction, but in a younger setting. Anyhow, this story is a happy story with a happy ending. The guy wasn't even in a relationship when he had the one night stand. Unlike the males in Fatal Attraction and Swimfan, he is willing to start a relationship with the girl...he just had not really planned to do so. Anyhow, the ending is somewhat happy. Yes, the girl is obsessed with him. The point is that he wasn't really especially interested in interacting with people in the first place. He just doesn't have the initiative for social interaction. In this case, she provides the social interaction without requiring him to initiate it. The explanation of the end of the story is misleading in saying he doesn't love her. He isn't sure he loves her, but he *does* like her and he also lusts for her. He recognizes her issues and accepts them because the benefits outweigh the costs. In fact, her obsession makes her a *better* fit for him than another girl. I realize I said he is reasonably happy just sitting at home watching TV but having someone who's willing to push him into actually doing stuff sometimes ends up making him happier.

Swimfan/Fatal Attraction vs. Story:

Movie: Girl doesn't want guy to have girlfriend/wife. Guy is in love with his girlfriend/wife.
Story: Girl doesn't want guy hanging out with other people (especially girls). Guy isn't really interested in hanging out with other people.

Movie: Girl devises wicked plans to destroy relationship with girlfriend.
Story: Girl tells guy not to have relationship with other people. Guy does so, without really being bothered by it. Wicked plans never become necessary, though guy is aware of the potential.

Movie: Girl is obsessed with guy enough to try to kill people.
Story: Girl is obsessed with guy enough to have lots of sex with him.

The girl is also obsessed enough to do what he wants to do. Thus, she'll happily see any movie he wants to see. She does demand he spend some time with her, but spending time with her is enjoyable to him anyways.

sounds like you've given this a lot of thought. Why not try writing it?

My story-writing ability is a bit weak. I can explain to others what I want to get across in my story but cannot actually do so myself. My stories would either violate the "show, not tell" rule or would fail to even tell.
