Alexander stealthily moved from tree to tree his eyes intent on the boar a few meters ahead of him. He had been tracking the beastie for a few hours knowing it would provide him and his sisters meat for a few days. He knew his sister could have handled this with him but he worried for her and instead asked her to work on their stock pile of wood instead. She had agreed albeit reluctantly and Alex had the chance to hunt on his own for once and gather his thoughts.

It was their fourth year on the island give or take a day or two. Their parents were dead having been swallowed by the sea on the same day they had crashed on this god forsaken island. Alex knew that his parents were stupid to take them on a deep sea diving expedition. They were out in the middle of know where when the ship had taken them out by the sea.

Meaning no one was coming for a rescue

Alex saw the boar moving away and cursed stepping out of the bushes and closing in on his target he appeared from the shadows like a ghost albeit a extremely fit good looking one. He was tall and handsome with black hair and electric green eyes, his chest and body was muscular from hunting the animals on the island. He only wore his grey ripped shorts his chest free except for the quiver he held his arrows in.

He pulled out his bow and fired and arrow piecing the boar through the heart and instantly killing it. Alex kneeled down and pulled out his knife uttering a quick prayer before skinning the animal.

Emily dropped the arm full of wood she had on top of the pile. Some of the wood on the pile was a bit wet. She checked the leaves that made the roof on the cover they had made to keep the wood dry. Sure enough there were patches missing that must have got blown off in the last storm that came through. She would have to collect more down the beach a ways and so wouldn't be here when Alex made it back from the hunt. She could get some more coconuts while she was there and surprise him when she gets back.

She scooped up a basket and set out toward the shore it was only a couple minutes walking and then a few more minutes down the coast to the best climbing trees. Alex didn't like her climbing so high but it was the only place to get palm leaves that were still growing on the tree. The greener fresh leaves lasted twice as long for the roofs of their shelter. They had lived in gap between two large roots of a massive tree on this god forsaken island for what had to be four years by now.

She dropped her basket in the sand as she arrived at the long row of palms she was looking for. Because of where they stood near the side of a cliff face the trees grew on a forty five degree slant so were really easy to climb. She picked the one that looked to have the most coconuts and scampered up. She made it to the top in no time at all she was getting pretty used to these trees. She ripped leaf after leaf out and let them drop to the ground. Finally she grabbed the hardest looking nuts and dropped them down then tossed a couple softer ones toward the sand a few yard away.

By the time she climbed down and placed all the leaves in the basket and then the nuts on top the sun was beginning to set turning the sky pink and purple. Alex was probably back by now so she hurried back. Sure enough she could see him working over something near the fire pit as she came towards the camp. He was really dirty a lot more than usual anyway. Even so he looked amazing his muscles gleamed with sweat in the dying light. "Hello filthy nice of you to come back in one piece."She said as she strolled into camp.

"'Filthy' huh? Is that any way to talk to the guy who just slew a wild boar to put meat on the table?" Alex turned his head away from the fire to sling another playful barb in Emily's direction, but the words caught in his throat as his eyes fell upon her. The fading daylight brought out the sun-bleached highlights as her dark brown hair fairly shimmered. The firelight was reflected in her steel-blue eyes, which smoldered as she took in the sight of his muscled torso.

Alex quickly dropped his eyes and turned back to the fire. Alex thought back four years, to the skinny, gangly twin sister who had been stranded with him on this island. He couldn't now recall when the curves had formed, but formed they had, and the person who now stood just behind him -- the sister who albeit his twin he couldn't help but feel protective of as though she were much younger -- was unmistakably a woman. And no matter how hard Alex willed himself to see a sister, his eyes took in those curves, and his brain registered what any man would, and he felt the stirrings, and the guilt and confusion fought with desire for his attention.

Alex tried to concentrate on the task at hand, slowly turning the roasting boar. The fire whistled and spit as the fat dripped onto the coals. His nostrils flared at the delicious aroma, and for the first time he noticed just how hungry he was. It was a relief, in a way, to have something else to focus on, a craving from his body that he could acknowledge without shame, could sate without fearing regret.

The boar's outer flesh was fully cooked now. Alex reached for his knife and used it to slice long, thin pieces of tender meat that the twins would devour straight away. There was nothing precious about their meal preparation. There was no romanticized version of life stranded on a deserted island. No makeshift tiki huts, no herbs and spices conjured from the native flora. These two, who had begun life together on this island as mere kids, were doing the best they could.
