Okay, so this is really twinkish, but I read it somewhere, and I don't think it really works, but you try it and tell me if you think it worked. Someone told me to put Visine (Gets the red out) on blemishes to make them seem less red. Is this the stupidest thing I've ever heard, or does it work for you? I know, I'm a twit. I admit it.

well took a few days at first, then with time seemed they didn't get as red to start with.

I read that in a magazine when I was a teenager. It didn't work then and it doesn't work now. The best bet is to cover the blemish with a clay mask, let it dry according to the directions and then gently rinse off...do not rub! and don't use anything with exfoliating grains while you have a breakout...they irritate the skin. Apply a medicated acne cream...benzol peroxide or salitic acid, whichever works best with your body. Also...if your prone to breakouts concentrate on not touching your face, you'll transfer less oil from your hands to your face.

If you want to learn how to cover imperfections or learn some new tools of the makeup trade, there is a really good book out on the market. It's called "Making Faces" by Kevyn Aucoin. You can even purchase a used copy now. I highly recommend this book...you'll find everything from a casual day look to the dramatic evening. I own this book and have tried some of the techniques and was really happy with the results. This is a good book for those who need step-by-step...that would be me! If nothing else..the different looks are fun to do when your feeling especially "twinkish".

The label on my bottle of "generic visine" calls then "astringent eye drops" and they work like any other astringent -- the constrict the small blood vessels to control bleeding.

I don't think the concentration of active ingredients is enough to affect the redness around a blemish unless it is caught when very small, or a lot of eyedrops are used.

In theory, it should have some effect, but because of the low concentration of active ingredients, it's not likely to work well enough for the effect to to be noticable.
