Chris Jones was a typical nerd. Smart with the learning, dumb as bricks with people. Okay maybe he wasn't that bad. But his interests fell into line of video games, books, comics, and Dungeons & Dragons. None of these things made him a very cool person. But fuck it, what was cool away? So what if the cool guys got to hang out with all the school's hottest girls? So what if they drove kick ass cars, and got blowjobs under the bleachers.
Chris Jones thought he was a pretty cool guy. He had a level eight Rogue in his D&D game, and that meant he was strong enough to backstab and kill an Ogre. So if that wasn't cool, then he had no idea what cool was.
Of course being a fairly smart guy, Chris knew exactly what cool was. He also knew he was the shining example of how not to be cool. He would never have the hot girlfriend, the fancy car, or the buckloads of friends all voting him prom king. Instead Chris had his little circle of fellow Wizards and Warlocks, and that was all he needed.
The bullying could stop.
But otherwise he was pretty happy with things. Besides with his grades, he was a shoe in for any college he wanted and once he became a rich ass doctor, the hot girls would quickly come a running. So let those stupid jocks have their moment in High School. Chris was playing the long game, and he knew all the rules.
He was sitting after school with a couple friend playing a friendly game of Magic the Gathering, checking his watch carefully. He was tutoring someone today, though he didn't know who. All he got was a note sticking out of his locker to please meet after school in the Library for math help.
"Hey Chris, we're going to Denny's to get food and play more, you in?" His friend Trevor asked.
Chris shook his head, "I can't, I gotta tutor someone this afternoon."
"Oh well, okay. Text when you finish, we might still be there." Which was true. When the gang all went to Denny's for game night, it was usually a very late affair that ran for a stupid amount of hours. Which meant that they would still be there long after Chris me whoever left him this note.
He grabbed his stuff and packed his deck into his backpack before shuffling off toward the Library, hoping that he wasn't walking into a prank like the last time. He really should stop falling for these things.
