Turning on PM

As the title of this thread suggests. Anybody know how to turn on PM? I ask because i want to PM Laurel to delete a story of mine.

Click on User CP in upper left of forum page. Got to edit options. You will see it about a third of the way down. Just check the box and should be good to go. Good luck!

Click on "User CP" near the top left of the forum window.
Under "Settings & Options" click on "Edit Options"
Scroll down if necessary to the section on "Messaging and Notification" and click the square labeled "Enable Private Messaging"
A check mark should appear in the square.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Save Changes"

Ta-Da!

To delete a story, resubmit it with the words PLEASE DELETE in the notes to the editor, also in the title, with a brief reason (a reason isn't essential, more a courtesy).

That might work. I had Laurel take down a series recently, and her instructions were:

First, I want to let you know that you have every right to remove your submissions from the site at any time for any reason.

Be aware that we do not store site submission data - including votes, comments, and the text itself. Once it is deleted from our servers, we cannot restore it.

Also know that if you submit a new edit the story, we will post it as new but it will not be eligible for any contests because it is not new to the site.

For security purposes and to make sure you (as the author) are the one making the removal request, you must follow this procedure: log into your account and create a submission titled "REMOVE". In the body of the submission, put the names of the submissions you wish removed along with (optionally) the reason for their removal.

If you want all of your work removed, you can write "DELETE ALL" in one form rather than listing every submission.

If you want all of one series removed, you can write "DELETE [SERIESNAME]" in one form rather than listing every submission.

Submission removals are usually done within 2-5 days.

It worked for me. No PM necessary.

Wait. When it says create a "new Submission," does that mean essentially create a New Story?

Yes, go through the usual submission process using exactly the same name as the story you want removed, add DELETE or REMOVE as per Laurel's instruction in NotWise's post, above.

EB,

Laurel's instructions were to create a new submission (new story) named "REMOVE." The body of the new story named "REMOVE" should contain (instead of a story) the name of the story you want removed.

This might be a different process than was described in older FAQ's or HOWTO's, but it's the process that Laurel gave me, I used it, and it worked.

Ah, okay. The first process (resubmit with the same name) worked for me, but it was several years ago.

You might want to add a link to the story in the body text box too, it makes her job that much easier.
