TSA Discontinues Naked Scanners

Kick ass. Now to get them to let me keep my shoes on and stop groping me. But one step at a time right?

I always find it funny how all those other places in the world have much less hysterical security checks - on planes that fly to the United States.

If those scanners were effective against terrorists, what's to stop someone from hopping on a plane in, say, Norway and crashing it into Manhattan instead of landing at Newark?

Exactly, you don't need to see my manboobs in the name of safety.

Forgive me, I wasn't exactly part of the world when this event went down. Even if 93 was shot down (it wasn't) wouldn't that still be a 25% success rate with 2 hitting the Twin Towers and 1 hitting the Pentagon? Maybe I play too many video games but things that only work 25% of time have this really awkward habit of failing 100% of time. At least it sure as fuck feels that way.

I've never been to Norway, but the exact opposite is true of every European and Middle East airport I've ever flown to/from. Have you ever been to CDG? I do look kinda shady though.

Yeah, this made good news for the travel industry today. :)

About time. Because of doctored data from the manufacturer, it wasn't generally known by the public that you're more likely to die from terminal cancer from a single trip through one of the scanners than you are to get blown up in a plane by a terrorist.
They based the "safety" of the scanners on the radiation dosage absorbed by a tissue mass equal to the entire body, when in fact the dose is absorbed by a much smaller mass, just your skin. A significant difference in radiation levels in any given cell.
