Since some other folks are trying to quit...I'll jump on the band wagon too...

I'll be a right bastard for a while...but I am going to quit (and we'll see how long this lasts...):D

~~Last Cigarette~~Dramarama

Hey hey its been so long since I have written with opinion
Oh its sharper than a sabre, I dont feel like Errol Flynn
Got no computer I cant type a letter in
Youre not responding right I guess I better start again

Well you can tell this fellas hungry got a dozen mouths to feed
He asked for money for a bus pass and my, heart bleeds
I throw him a dollar thats exactly what he needs
To get another jug of Thunderbird and not just what he asked us for a

Last cigarette, last cigarette, last cigarette, one before I go to bed

(shut up!)

Its getting late you got to get the kid in bed
You got to kiss the little woman put the children in the bed
Check the sports and weather and the living and the dead
You dont have to hear the headlines you can hear what Johnny Carson said

Oh mister saint now wont you listen to me please
Im saying Ill stay in bed but Ill pretend Im on my knees and praying
One for my hunger and another for my greed
And just forget about my envy Lord and give me what I need, I need a

I'm so proud I could cry.

First week is a bitch.
Second week, well....you know how it's going.

Damn, who's gonna inhale for me now?

Good Luck Rhys!

*remember chocolate and other things help*

yeah well

you know already what I spent the morning doing...

:D

Yeah...reading Summer posts helped give me a little push with moderate success..I've had a few over the past few days.

More than anything I figured out quitting smoking wll amount to a month and a half free rent each year.

Yeah regular cigarettes are like 5 dollars a pack out here...

and the I smoke the exotics so I am paying anywhere between 5 and 10 depending on where I go to get them...

I could use the extra cash...not to mention the money I spend on allergy meds to combat the fact that I am actually allergic...

If I can do it, you two can do it!

I'm usually so weak. After all, I do like my vices.:D

It will be 2 weeks Wednesday........

Keep trying Glam darlin', you can do it!

yeah well...

I'll eat what is left of my fingernails in the mean time...

You got it right, it's that last cigarette that I still can't shake. Some nights I just fall asleep, but most I'm tossing and turning knowing if I just gave in and lit one up I'd be asleep before the smoke disapated. Usually I give in, sometimes I don't. Hopefully sometimes and usually will swap places someday.

I've thought about quitting. Been smoking for 10 years now.

But I pay 13.50 a carton, so money isn't an issue.

a word of encouragement for you guys...i smoked for 30 plus years and quit about 5 years ago...it's actually pretty amazing how soon you'll start breathing easier, food will taste better and your piggy bank will be bursting...the cravings do disappear a lot faster than you think they will...

good luck and remember....pot doesn't count as smoking...i think

I've been nearly smoke-free for about a month now. I stopped the week before my oral surgery, cuz I ran out and didn't have the $$ to buy a pack. Then I opted not to, for 2 more weeks after I had the surgery, because I didn't want that 'dry socket' everyone warned me about.

Now it's just habit.. (YaY)

I don't really crave it, and the 3 times I took ONE puff, it made me sick to my stomach. I can't even stand being in the same room as my dad who's a 'pack a day or more' smoker.

In my best Rob Schneider ;) Waterboy voice:

You Can Do It!

The 'dry socket' thing is just a myth, had 2 wisdom teeth cut out and I was back to smoking 2 hours later. Tried quiting once, got through a week and figured I earned a reward so went out and got a cigar to smoke, well long story short I'm back to smoking over a pack a day.

Oh, and btw I believe it was Rob Scneider's(sp?) character in the Waterboy who said it first.:)

Rob Schneider, actually.

And no, pot doesn't count. No tar. Or chemicals, if you get it from the right people.

I feel so alone, after 6 years being smoke free, I feel an intense need to start again.

...but you won't. Thats what I admire about people like you...

I have been smoking for 17 years now and I always talk about quiting, but never do. Hopefully one day soon I will actually have the willpower to do it.

Good on ya Rhys for trying to be a good example. :)
You go, dude.
You can be grumpy at me all you
like. I'll just say nice things back.
:rose:

You start smoking and I fly down there specifically to beat your ass...

:p

Quit smoking week before T'giving and have chewed Nicorette. It works great and the generic brand isn't as bad as cost of smokes. Live longer, too. Good luck.

Don't feel alone I quit Six years ago and still get the cravings. Sometimes I say maybe just one but I know it won't be just one. :)
