Try to hypnotize my self

I'll hypnotize you. Ready? K,
You're getting sleepier and sllleeepppier ...
good, now you're asleep, but awake and when I say
"Sunshine" you'll feel to compelled to clean my house, top to bottom...

Ready, Sunshine?

Just kidding! Why do you want to hypnotize yourself? Can you even do that?

I can do self-hypnosis but I must confess I was taught how to do it by a hypnotherapist, in "real time".

I don't use it for sexual purposes - I use it to relax and re-energise and refocus. I work at home and I often sef-hypnotise for five minutes or so at my desk (don't tell my boss!)

Might be worth paying for one sesssion with a hypnotherapist, to be shown exactly how to do it in a way that works for you?

There are some great books on self-hypnosis with scripts and everything out there. I found several through my local library, so you might check to see what yours has available.

Google 'free hypnosis' to find sites. I think there's one called Free Hypnosis Downloads, or something like that.

Check out this thread, too.

You can, actually. I read/heard somewhere that it's a matter of concentration. If you relax yourself greatly, play calming music, and once you're fully relaxed covertly repeat the image you're focusing on, it's allegedly supposed to help. However, I always wanted to find a self-help hypnosis tape that would assist in that endeavor. I have no doubt that either amazon, google or both could assist you better ;)

Lit's Personals Board is the place to ask for that. :)

What does camming have to do with self-hypnosis?

And what's your goal for the hypnosis? If you're more specific about what you're hoping to achieve, you'll probably get better suggestions.

One of the books I read suggested making your own tape(s). You can use a more general written script (like one of the example scripts in the book) or, ideally, write up your own customized script (perhaps by tweaking a sample script or taking what you like from several of the examples), and tape that.

I haven't done it yet, but it's something I'll do in the very near future. I plan on taking what I like/believe will work from the scripts in the book, customizing them to fit my specific goals and then making one recording with the script read several times (so I can listen to it before and in the early stages of sleep) as well as doing individual recordings of my other scripts.

I know meditation works pretty well for me, so I'm excited and optimistic about self-hypnosis. I've been to a professional once, but his visualizations and overall technique didn't work so well for me. Like any other kind of therapy, I think a huge part of it is finding specific methods that work well for us as individuals, rather than going for a one-size-fits-all approach.

are there any good websites
:)

Self-hypnosis is very useful. There are two key aspects to it-the suggestions you want to give yourself and the technique for achieving trance.

Start by figuring out what you want to achieve from going into trance and then create your suggestions. Use active language, state things in the positive and review the suggestions to make sure they are realistic, unambiguous and specific. (i.e. don't use "I want a hardon that never quits" as a suggestion  )

Once you've got your suggestions, you need to find a technique that works for you. The link posted by SweetErika is one of the most popular methods for inducing self-hypnosis. I'm going to include a couple of links that discuss that technique in more detail.

This link reviews the technique itself. This link is the transcript of a session where the technique is taught to people and the final link is an mp3 of the teaching session so you can actually hear the technique being used.

At first it is best to simply try and enter the trance state and not worry about the suggestions. When you find yourself entering the trance state, bring yourself back out of it after a couple of minutes and then start the process over, repeating it several times.

By repeating entry into the trance state, you'll condition yourself to go deeper and to enter trance quickly and easily.

Once you're entering trance comfortably, take a few minutes before each session to review your suggestions, then enter into trance and let your mind repeat those suggestions back to you.

After you've finished reviewing the suggestions, take a bit of time to relax and enjoy the sensation of trance and then come back out.

Continue to do that, and you'll see results, at which point you can adjust or change the suggestions or simply use self-hypnosis for relaxation and well-being.

If you decide you're interested in trying other techniques, let me know and I'll point you to some other possibilities.

SweetErika, if you already have sounds or images from your meditation practice that work well for you, the simplest thing is to incorporate those into your trance induction to help you achieve a trance state.

Stage hypnotists of use memories of clinical hypnosis sessions, or meditation/other experiences to help an audience member quickly access a state of relaxation or trance, rather than starting from the very beginning.

Likewise, visualizations don't work best for everyone, some folks are more auditorily focused so any mental "images" should be multisensory, i.e. laying on the sand at the beach, watching the suset through a shimmering haze on the horizon, cool water washing over your toes, as the sound of the surf drifts lazily toward you, etc. (this may not be the best induction to deal with a fear of water) :)

One of the reasons so many people find the induction you linked to works is that gradually all their senses are focused from external items to internal sensations and that allows them to enter trance. But sensations should always be chosen that work well for you.

Have you heard about OBE (out of body experience), it's a way of mentally leaving your body.
