Is the latest to draw the ire of the 'wokester's'. Apparently the song is blatantly racist. I listened to the song and didn't hear anything you'd call racist, so I then watched the video, nothing there either. As a last resort I looked up the lyrics just in case those redneck racists were trying to pull a fast one, nothing there either.

So I sat and pondered what all the fuss could be about and the more I thought about the more inescapable the conclussion that presented itself. The 'Woke" believe that all blacks are criminals. It's the only explanation of how a basically anti-crime song could be considered racist and still make sense.

Of course there is one other possible explanation, the record company started the call in campaign to get the media and public to focus on the song because nether the music nor the lyrics are particularly notable in and of themselves. If that's the case, it worked. #1 on the charts.

I read about this so I watched the video. Not a fan of Top 40 country (I do like traditional country and Americana) and thought the video was corny but not anything to be upset about. CMT’s decision to take it down generated some media buzz and might have given the song a nice bump on the charts.

I'm boycotting CMT now (not that I ever really watch it. Is MTV still a thing even?).

Bunch of freaking cowards. How the hell can they look anyone in the eye and refer to themselves as "country."

They're officially now nothing more than a freaking Dixie Chick Cabal...

I was Heavy Metal before I was Country, and not that old-timey twangy stuff...

The stuff now that more resembles Rock'n Roll than what is currently passing as R'nR.

Never been much of a heavy metal fan. More of a classic rock and roll, blues and traditional country fan. Within the latter genre, I really like the new generation of bluegrass artists that are catching fire these days. Guitar shredders like Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle with their bands featuring killer mandolin, fiddle, banjo and bass players that are performing their own stuff while paying homage to the greats like Doc Watson, Old & In the Way, etc that came before them.

I really don't listen to much music any more.

It just seems supercilious.

Maybe country if
I'm driving.

Wonder what they were thinking in choosing the setting. Probably just an inadvertent coincidence.

“Viewers also noted that scenes in the video were shot at the Maury County Courthouse in Columbia, Tennessee, where a Black man named Henry Choate, 18, was lynched in 1927. The site is also where the infamous Columbia Race Riot occurred in 1946.”

The video also includes images from BLM protests.

As with many things, the symbols are there to be seen (or to be ignored if you want to pretend you don't recognize them). Like statues of 'heroes of the Confederacy', it's either your heritage or just a beautiful monument that happens to belong there.

Imma Rock & Roller so I was never going to hear it anyway. Rock On ✌️

I feel nothing but sympathy for Aldean. It must be hard to accept that one’s music triggers people.

Latest Deplorable false narrative; it's all over social media. They get more desperate by the month. Good luck getting this one to stick outside of your white-supremacist circle-jerk club. 🙂
