Try not to cry when you watch this- NZ legalises gay marriage

That was amazingly beautiful.

It also breaks my heart that we can't get this accomplished in the US. I'm ashamed of that.

videos like this makes me even madder at the assholes who actively work to make sure that gays can't get married.

lovely video. ^^

The speaker announces voting results after the final reading of the same-sex marriage bill yesterday and the House breaks into spontaneous applause with cheers from NZ citizens and activists in the gallery. A man in the gallery starts to sing the Maori love song and others in the gallery and on the floor join in.

That's great. New Zealand is one of my favorite countries to visit.

Notice the sour-ass conservatives walking out.

I had to click the video before I knew where you were talking about. My ethnocentric brain kept trying to make it NY for absolutely no reason at all.

The world is a fickle place, and all are slaves to fashion. Today we whoop for faggots and tomorrow we'll burn them alive and dance around the fire. Every day is a fresh stay of execution for most of us.

You're talking about the faggot that are actually firewood, right? She's talking about people.

Some say that faggot came to be a pejorative for gay because homosexuals were burned alive like witches.

Others say that is a myth.

Actually people don't burn particularly well. Comes from being mostly water but I wouldn't expect a racist to understand basic chemistry.

Because that's what happened when women and racial minorities got rights, right?

It's probably about time for you to wrap it up and admit your belief system is going to die right with you.

It's a slippery slope from there to man-elephant seal unions.

I'm pointing out how attitudes change, and how its prudent to remind yourself that the folks who unlock your chains today might lock you up again tomorrow. Recall how LBJ won the biggest election victory in American history back in 1964, and was the devil by 1968. Nixon anyone?

No one will ever believe it but I strive to build on a foundation of rock NOT dunes of shifting sand. It took a while to get me in bell bottoms and furry vests and sandals, and when I was society was wearing double-knit polyester. The race doesn't always go to the swiftest.

"Unlock the doors!"
Has procedural order ever been given such poetic context?

I didn't notice that at first. Talk about walking into the wrong side of history.

So do sacks of poo, I'm just saying.

And few are surprised you say it. Like diarrhea it just oozes out on its own.

Your misery is peeking through your klan petticoats again.

Tell me about it. Back in 1965 I worked to get a local nigga elected to the city council in my small Southern ville. He won! And niggaz couldn't vote. First black elected to anything in my state in a 100 years.

Bill Blackshear was a decent guy. Engineer, Korean War Veteran, married, hard working community activist ( we paved all the streets in The Quarters, put in sewer, and water and sidewalks...but no integrated schools just yet). We got him elected cuz he wasn't corrupt and arrogant. It was more a message to the others.

Bleh bleh, fictional anecdote, bleh bleh *stop for breath* bleh.

eta: pm me for a complete synopsis replete with burps, if you have JBJ on ignore.
