Truth in the Ruins (closed for heartofcourage)

Dylan moaned loudly as he bit down on her lips before he kissed her roughly. She ran her hands through his hair as his hand cupped her breast and massaged it as she felt him drive deeply into her pussy. A whimper left her lips as she heard him growl her name as he came.

She was squirming in pleasure as he coated her, their breaths coming out in panting gasps. She smiled up at him and lifted her head, kissing him with the passion that had built inside of her.

“I love you, Marcus.” She whispered as their kiss broke and she looked him in the eye, a blush coating her cheeks at her admission.

Marcus looked at her for a moment calmly in the afterglow of their coitus. He looked at her while his hands moved over her body and she stroked his hair. Leaning up his lips rubbed hers and then finally kissed. He didn't know if he was ready to fully give himself to someone but here now with her he didn't think of any other situation he would even come close to save with Dylan.

"I love you too Dylan." He said he kissed the woman laying on top of him with the blushing cheeks. His hands moved down from her breasts to her sweaty sides pulling her that extra inch closer. Looking at her beauty he felt his cock churning inside of her sex while his juices mixed with hers coating their legs as they rubbed close to one another.

Out in the town the militia went to their orders. They kicked down doors to select houses and buildings and arrested a number of people. Gunshots rang out as anyone who attempted to resist was effectively 'put down'. They marched on getting closer to the hotel while Marcus and Dylan rested. The gunshots were not within range of them, not yet anyhow.

Dylan sighed as his hands pulled her closer, their bodies pressed as tightly as they possibly could. She kissed him, his cock still throbbing deep inside of her as their juices mixed and rubbed along their legs.

She was about to lean down at kiss him again when the sounds of gunshots drew closer and she tilted her head to the side and looked towards the window with a frown. “What’s that?” She asked softly.

Roused from his rest Marcus leaned up following her comment. He searched the outside for sounds by his senses alone and then gently pulled her off his cock with a wet splurt. His hand rested on her shoulder as he moved from the bed.

Looking out the window he saw militia troops out in force. They were breaking down the door to another house. He couldn't tell exactly what was the purpose but he felt in his gut that it couldn't be good. "Get dressed, don't forget the armor." He told her and then immediately grabbed his pistol before anything else.

He clicked off the safety for his Smith 2088 and tried to figure out what was wrong. Windvale was generally such a quiet town and now their local lawmen were going around shooting people near enough to the dead of night. He didn't like it one bit. "It must be rebels, or seditionists." He said quickly and then found his pants and pulled them up quickly and then looked to his pack and searched for a small leather bound journal he kept with many different badges and orders. He needed to move fast.

Dylan leaned up on her elbow as she watched Stone move towards the window. She frowned slightly as he pulled aside the shades and looked outside. Whatever he was seeing wasn’t good. When he turned towards her and told her to get dressed, she nodded and moved without hesitation.

Her pants were pulled back up over her hips and she placed her armor on before she pulled her shirt back on. “What are they looking for?” She asked him, a bit frightened with how fast everything was taking place.

"I'm not sure." Stone replied back to her and that was the part that worried him most of all. He was glad to see her dressed and ready when he looked back and he moved away from the blinds. The pistol in his hand was a comfortable wait as he grabbed the gear he had come in with and slung it over his shoulder.

"Think we could be right smack dab in the middle of a power struggle I'm 'fraid." He said as he moved to the door and motioned for her to come closer to him.

"Think the militia might be having a new boss. Not good for us and the rest of the people here in Windvale. We should do something." He said as his hand reached down holding hers to comfort Dylan.

Dylan followed close behind Stone as he motioned her towards the door. She nearly pressed herself against his back as he talked about the power struggle that was taking place and she felt her heart racing in her chest. As he reached down for her hand, she gripped his tightly, squeezing it to let him know that she was with him.

“Yes, we should.” She said in a soft voice. “But what can we do? We’re most definitely outgunned.”

Stone nodded to her as he held his pistol. It was true they were definitely outgunned and he wasn't just going to lead them out into the firestorm but he couldn't just sit by and let the soldiers kill those people.

Feeling her squeezing his hand was reassuring but as he peaked out the door he focused on keeping them alive. He could feel her heart thumping against his back as she held close to him.

"We have to find Helgin. If he's working for Mormont then it's possible we can 'convince' him to stop this insanity." Marcus said as he looked out into the street. There was no more soldiers nearby and he gave Dylan's hand a squeeze and then pulled her out moving swiftly across the street and leaving their hotel room. Now in an alleyway Stone was trying to think of where Helgin would be. He had to be near the center of the action. Stone tried to think and hope that the soldiers wouldn't find them, not yet anyhow.

Dylan held her breath as Stone pulled her out into the street. Her fingers curled tightly around his as they headed towards the center of the town, her heart hammering loudly in her chest. She was never meant to be a soldier, but she would be strong for him because he needed a woman that could hold her own, not a wilting violet.

As they pulled to another stop, she looked around the street at the silence that surrounded them. She sucked in a deep breath and moved to Stone’s side, her mind trying to form a plan.

“If you talk to Helgin, I should stay behind for backup. I might not be a good shot with a gun, but I can most definitely provide you some cover.” She said, looking at him for confirmation of what she was thinking.

Stone nodded looking back at her. Having her be backup would also hope keep her out of the immediate firing line.

"Sounds like a plan." He said thoguh he still didn't know exactly where Helgin was. Hugging the wall he looked at her for a moment. Stone didn't want to put her at risk but they had to help out even if they were supposed to stay out of trouble. He didn't like leaving people to suffer if he could help.

"He's got to be around a base or some place. We'll head back to the market and try to find a pattern amongst the troops. Stay close to me and be ready to run back to the vehicle if there is trouble." He told her and then smiled pulling her close for a kiss for luck before he let her pull back slightly and he moved them along through the back alleys back towards the market place.

Dylan gasped as he pulled her close for a kiss. She moaned against his lips as it deepened and left her dizzy before he pulled back with a sly smile and took her hand again, pulling her behind him as they went on a hunt for the man that had ordered this mass killing. She stayed close to Stone, pressing against him from time to time as they took the back alleys towards the market place.

Once there, she stayed crouched, looking out as Stone watched the careful movements of the soldiers. There was hope that it would tell them where Helgin was hiding. She hoped that she could give Stone the support that he needed and not get them both killed. She had her doubts, but she was determined to be strong for him. That’s what he needed the most right now, not some simpering woman that would run at the first sign of danger.

As Dylan's body hung close on his Stone thought on how he shouldn't have gotten her into this mess. But he never liked leaving people behind to die, especially when he could make a difference. Before long as they hid in the shadows they caught a break.

"Velgin says we're supposed to take the mayor and his family to the warehouse off Shoplin." One of the militia forces said to another.

"Why?" The other one grunted. Stone had to guess they were both just low ranking grunts, officers were generally smarter about where they spoke or what they spoke of.

"Who cares just make sure they're ready to go in five." The other one said before the second speaker looked after him and then moved away grumbling something that Stone couldn't hear. Before long they watched as four people with bags over their heads were taken out of a nearby building. They were under close guard of at least six soldiers. Stone's first instinct was to open fire and free them but they would lead him to Velgin.

So with Dylan he sent them hot on the trail. They ended up near what Stone assumed was the target warehouse. He and Dylan hung close to an abandoned shop as he watched through a window. As he watched the door at the end of the shop opened up slowly and one of the militia started to check the area out.

Dylan watched over Stone’s shoulder as they kept their eyes trained on the warehouse. There was something most definitely going on in this strange city and she didn’t like it one bit. People were going to be killed and the very thought made her skin crawl.

“I can provide a distraction.” She whispered against Stone’s ear, her hand already curling around his side arm and pulling it free. “When they’re after me, you can move in. If we don’t find one another, meet at the truck by dusk?”

She turned her eyes towards his, wondering what he would think of her impromptu plan. She loved him, didn’t want him hurt, but she couldn’t let innocent people be killed or sold to slavers.

Stone studied Dylan with a calm impassive eye. The plan could work well but he didn't like risking Dylan's safety, he was already doing enough of that as it was. For a moment his eyes looked down towards the gun in her hand, something he felt seemed odd given she was still relatively new to them. But after a moment he gave a small nod though in the back of his head he hoped fervently that she would be able to evade capture from any would be pursuers.

"Alright but you just need to let them see you for just a moment. Then keep your head low and don't take any unnecessary risks." He said sharply keeping his tone curt and to the point. They didn't have a lot of time and he wanted to take the lesson to heart. He couldn't afford to let her get captured, or worse.

“I promise.” Dylan said, her lips pressing to his for good luck before she turned and scurried away.

She stayed low, hidden and listening for the movements of the soldiers that were moving around the streets around her. She was terrified and thinking that her idea was one that was destined to fail, but she knew that Stone trusted her and she was there to help him in any way possible.

Sucking in a deep breath and holding it, she slowly moved away from her position and stood up, letting them see her as she walked down a street towards a side alley. She hoped the alley wouldn’t dead end and she could escape before she was cut off.

Luckily for Dylan the alley didn't end with a wall but rather a fence instead. Some crates to the side allowed her a way to easily scurry up and over while the guards were still just moving to get to her.

Stone took the opening for what he could and moved over to the target warehouse. The guards were absent from Dylan's distraction and he quickly found a door in the back that looked suitable. Keeping his pistol ready he opened the door slowly and then swept in to find he was in an abandoned office. Turning around he kept the door open slightly to let Dylan know where to come in at.

Scrambling over the fence, Dylan landed on her feet and took off at a run. The soldiers that had been in pursuit were slowed by the fence behind her and she took the time to pick her way back around to where she had left Stone.

He was already gone from the spot and as she looked across the short distance to where a door stood open. Had he gone through the door looking for the people? Precious moments were wasted as she tried to think about what she should do. If she went in there and it was a set up, she could be trapped with no way out. If he was in there, he might need her help.

With a curse under her breath, she hurried across the way and slipped into the open door, breathing a sigh of relief as she saw him sweeping through the abandoned office.

Stone's eyes looked up when he heard rushing footsteps. His gun didn't even waver from the point it was at and he gave Dylan a subtle nod. He'd give her an apology for moving later but right now he needed to remain in focus. As the back door was shut he hoped that she had bought them enough time, he realized if she hadn't then he'd be aware soon enough anyhow.

Pushing forward with careful almost methodical steps he moved through the hallway noticing an office on his left and right. The hallway opened up into the warehouse interior ahead of him.

"Mormont is taking a lot of risk for this, don't fuck it all up." A voice rang out, Velgin's Stone realized as he glanced back towards Dylan and whispering the name so only she could hear. Stepping forward he saw that inside there were rows of cargo shelves lined with all manner of containers and other items. He couldn't see the speaker so he crept closer.

"Awful lot of heat to bring down, but I guess in the old days you couldn't really just take over some American town haha." Another voice said.

"Aint no America left, cept what we want it to be Sully." Another voice chortled.

Dylan carefully followed after Stone. He was on point, in the moment and she didn’t want to be a distraction to him. Pressing up against Stone’s back again, she listened to the voices that she didn’t know. Stone informed her the name of one of the men and she still shook her head.

“Sully?” She whispered softly against his ear. What was going on, she wondered to herself as Stone moved forward to try and get sights on the two men.

When she asked he turned back to her and gave a slight shrug. Sully wasn't known to him. But given things it was just a lack of discipline on the thugs' part. Names had power that anyone could exploit. When Stone worked for the army he had always operated under a code name. It had continued on in the new world with him only ever using his last name and even then only a few people knew that it really was connected to his true name.

Soon enough he spotted the two men. They were opening up crates from two rows that ran parallel to each other. It appeared to Stone that they were looking exactly where they meant to which meant prior instruction and foreknowledge.

"Here it is." The one named Sully said dryly and lifted up a box. It was armored and had white stenciled letters on the box. The container reminded Stone of military designed capsules. It couldn't be good. Turning to Dylan his eyes dropped slightly debating how to deal with the situation. If it was just him he would have just killed both of them. But he didn't exactly want to expose her to more death. It could leave a person... changed. Looking at her he rested his hand on her shoulder.

"Stay here and keep watch in case others come in. I'm going to go secure the area. I'll shout for you once I'm done." He said and gave her a small smile to reassure her.

Dylan watched as Stone turned and shrugged at the mention of the man’s name. It seemed that he didn’t know who they were any more than she did. For some reason that fact frightened her more then Stone would ever know. It meant that they had an unknown enemy and absolutely anything would happen.

When he told her to stay there and keep watch, Dylan instantly shook her head. She didn’t want to be alone and she didn’t want Stone to be alone. “I’m not leaving you alone. We’re in this together, Stone.”

"I know Dylan and I'll be right back. I just need to make sure that they won't be bothering us." He told her and leaned in gently to kiss her lips. After pulling back he rose from his place and moved out from cover.

Moving behind the one who wasn't Sully he put the man in a choke hold and snapped his neck in a moment. Then he raised his gun towards Sully. He almost shot him but he held back knowing it would be better to get information out of him.

"Move and you die." He told Sully and moved forward to quickly retrieve the man's weapons. Stone lifted a pistol and a knife as he kept his pistol aimed right at Sully.

Dylan gasped as Stone kissed her gently before he pulled away and moved from their hiding spot. She wanted to call out and pull him back, insisting that they go together, but she kept quiet and hunkered down further so she wouldn’t be seen.

The sounds of a struggle soon filled the air before she heard Stone tell someone to not move. She was trembling with nerves and adrenaline, waiting for the signal that it was alright for her to move.

Stone looked at Sully and made sure to keep his aim dead center. With Dylan nearby he couldn't afford to take any chances.

"Whats with the capsules?" He asked.

"Go to hell." Spat back the man named Sully and Stone slammed the butt of his pistol across the man's mouth. A chipped tooth fell out along with blood and spit.

"You're gonna have to do better than that bastard." Stone looked at the man and nodded, aiming his pistol down and firing at the man's kneecap. Sully howled in pain and crashed to the ground.

"Sonofa! You blow out my knee!"

"You'll live, less you keep playing games." Stone growled at the man.

"Mormont wants the canisters to get more control. They're a gas agent from before everything went to hell. He knew they were here so he decided to come in , take over and grab them. None of the other factions around knows about them." Stone listened intently and he looked back towards the canisters. He debated just shooting Sully in the face and being done with it but he knew that Dylan was close by.

Dylan winced at the sound of the gunshot, jumping at the suddenness of it as Stone took control of the situation to get the information that he wanted from the man in front of them. She knew that Stone’s job was to be ruthless and get what he wanted, but she wasn’t so sure that she liked the violent nature of what he did. It didn’t change the way that she felt about him in the least though.
