Trump's support analyzed in new study

In terms of the GOP primary, many of the areas where Trump is not as strong are actually strongholds for Cruz (Texas, the west, etc). I think it would be safe to assume that most of these people would be there for Trump in the general election.

The other interesting thing, obviously, is the strong support already among moderate and conservative leaning Democrats and independents. The same thing that makes some conservative Republicans wary of Trump (alleged moderate leanings on a few traditional conservative issues) most likely helps among these voters.

All in all, if we assume that most of these GOP voters in Texas, the west, upper mid-west would support Trump in a general election, as well as Trump putting states like New York back into play, we could be looking at a general election juggernaut for the Donald.

Its interesting that my ancestors came from many of these Trump Democrat strongholds (West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Cleveland). Even though they are scattered all over the country now, I know several of my relatives who are raving about Trump who haven't supported a Republican since Reagan or even never have.
