I think it has to be either Ben Carson or John Kasich though. Either one will bring good balance.

Carson would help blunt some of the liberal race card bullsh*t against Trump, as well as reassure conservative voters and possibly bring in a few black faith based voters.

Kasich would do the opposite bring in some "moderates" and help in Ohio.

Either one would help balance the ticket.

McCrystal is an interesting guy.
Meteoric rise through the upper military ranks, but he felt like he had to compare himself to General David Petraeus every step of the way.

Like Petraeus, he eventually began to think of himself as invincible and paid the price.

I can't even begin to predict this, since Trump's primary criterion will be "subservience." Ben Carson is actually as good a guess as any, since he does have an identifiable constituency (stupid people who are also religious) that only partially overlaps with Trump's.

This would be a good job for someone young and ambitious to get their name out there in what will certainly be a losing effort, but one they won't get blamed for. FDR in 1920 is an example.

But the always status-conscious Trump is unlikely to pick someone with real stature.

Regardless of ideology, I know a lot about political campaigns. Trump would need to benefit from accessing the single largest voting groups: women! A minority woman would be an added advantage, as would experience in government. Going up against HC requires someone smart. This is a much greater challenge than it was finding someone like Palin. But would also be more productive.
Right now HC has the black vote and the female vote. Trump needs to broaden his base, yes?
