From the Reuters report on Trump's order to temporarily restrict people from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States: Trump, a businessman who successfully tapped into American fears about terror attacks during his campaign, had promised what he called "extreme vetting" of immigrants and refugees from areas the White House said the U.S. Congress deemed to be high risk.

Why would we be scared.
Well, OK, there was that attack in San Bernardino County. Hmmm, that nightclub in Florida. And that military base in Texas.
And hundreds dead on 9/11.
Otherwise, Americans have NO REASON to be concerned. We're just a bunch of silly paranoids.

I am not sure if he is aware that there are Muslims all over the world. I think he thinks they all come from the Middle East. However, he did manage to skip some ME countries that have a lot of Muslims where he has business interests, such as Saudi Arabia.
