Deplorables and everyone else win.
Executive order will require Big Pharma to list prices of drugs they advertise. After the comment period (and Big Pharma shitting bricks), those soothing TV ads will sound like this: Talk to you doctor about this $2,500 a month drug.

Anyone besides Rory and the usual gang of idiots see a downside?

Watch the partisan left suddenly go all libertarian now that Trump is doing something they've been asking their beloved progressive Democrats to do for decades. :D

That is actually good. I hate big Pharma.

He would have gotten to it two years ago if the Mueller investigation hadn't put everything on hold. Reparations are needed!

so the prices stay the same, but now some disembodied voice will micromachine the price at the end of the ad? yeah, take that big pharma. that'll show 'em, i guess.

I think the point is that price is now part of the discussion in the doctor's office, as are options for care.
Sure, the stuff in the commercial sounds good and is $500 a month and after a few months you've met your deductible for the year. But maybe you'll have a conversation with your doctor about less expensive alternatives. There are no rules against that.

He's taking on the big Penguin running the Judiciary Committee as well.:D

Doctors already do this. Especially when it is an expensive medication.

I can’t afford the Democrats helping me anymore. They pat you on the back while they sift though your purse😂

one of the biggest costs of a drug is the ads

why even had ads for drugs.....people cant prescribe them to themselves:confused:

To create demand. Pricing in the cost of tort litigation is another cause of higher prices in the US.

The precise questions to be asked are important:-

Will the companies be asked for example why they sell drugs to the Nationalised health care sytems in UK and NZ for a fraction of the prices paid by US consumers?

And will overseas drug manufactures be similarly examined - the Swiss and Germans are particularly effective price gougers.

Please tell me why this is a win as well as how and what we've won. Do you really beleive that forcing the drug manufacturers to reveal their list price up front is going to do ANYTHING to reduce drug price to a reasonable level? If so why? As mentioned earlier in the thread, when you ask about a drug you've seen advertised, the doctor will have a discussion with you (at least mine does) about the cost of that drug.

Also when is the administration or congress (neither have done shit on this subject) going to do something about the price gouging that is so blatant in drug sales in this county? As noted earlier in the thread, a drug sold here for X amount, is also sold in other countries for 50% to 75% less, the same drug, in some cases manufactured and shipped from the same factory. When is our government going to do something real and tangible to stop that?

The only thing this regulation does is make it look like the administration is doing something to reduce drug prices, when it fact it does nothing at all; other then give those who instituted it a chance to claim a win when in reality it is nothing but slight of hand.

While the Pharma price reg is nothing but flim flam, here's one that the administration is supporting that WILL do something to help reduce medical bills. This is the kind of thing that needs to be done, the kind of thing our congress and president should be doing.

Sticker shock: Trump taking aim at ‘surprise medical bills’

President Donald Trump will begin a push Thursday to fight health care sticker shock by limiting “surprise medical bills,” the unexpected charges faced by insured patients when a member of a health care team that treated them is not in their insurer’s network...

I had to come back to this because it's the biggest damned bunch of shit I've read in a while. How in the fuck is making Big Pharma tell us what the price is going to do anything to help those who the fuckers are taking advantage of? It won't do a goddamn thing! What will is the administration and congress getting off their ass, stop taking money from the bastards and DO SOMETHING about the fucking price gouging!

Teva and Other Generic Drugmakers Inflated Prices Up to 1,000%, State Prosecutors Say

Leading drug companies including Teva, Pfizer, Novartis and Mylan conspired to inflate the prices of generic drugs by as much as 1,000 percent, according to a far-reaching lawsuit filed on Friday by 44 states.

The industrywide scheme affected the prices of more than 100 generic drugs, according to the complaint, including lamivudine-zidovudine, which treats H.I.V.; budesonide, an asthma medication; fenofibrate, which treats high cholesterol; amphetamine-dextroamphetamine for A.D.H.D.; oral antibiotics; blood thinners; cancer drugs; contraceptives; and antidepressants.

“We all know that prescription drugs can be expensive,” Gurbir S. Grewal, the New Jersey attorney general, said in a statement. “Now we know that high drug prices have been driven in part by an illegal conspiracy among generic drug companies to inflate their prices.”...
