Lieberman? An absolutely terrible choice!
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said he is "very close" to choosing a new FBI director, but there will be no announcement Friday.

Speaking to reporters at an off the record lunch, and reiterating the comments on camera moments later, Trump called former Sen. Joe Lieberman his top pick. Multiple officials tell NBC News that Lieberman is the current "frontrunner" for the job and some had suggested there was the possibility of an announcement by the end of the week. However, at midday Friday, the White House said there would be no announcement.

Trump previously promised that the process to replace former FBI director would go "very quickly," and the White House had been aiming to make a decision before the president departs for his first trip abroad on Friday.

On Wednesday, Trump met with Lieberman, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating, and former top FBI official Richard McFeely. Lieberman demurred when asked by MSNBC if he would accept the job should it be offered.

Lieberman is a wise choice. He will add sane Democrats to Trumps coalition, especially moderate Jews. Trump is collecting sane grown ups.

The Democrats showed him the door and he's connected to Trump. Not a sane Democrat's choice at all. I'd be interested in seeing what experience he had in FBI work.

He was the Attorney General of Connecticut before going to the Senate, but I don't believe he has any prosecutorial experience, and certainly nothing at the U.S. Attorney level. His time at AG was also, so far as I know, the extent of his administrative experience.

Well, apparently qualifications for a post are simply not a factor Trump considers at all.

Keep in mind Tiffany has just now gotten admitted to law school. If she were a second-year, she'd no doubt be in the running.

What does his age have to do with it?

Well, being FBI Director is bound to require a lot of energy and vigor! There are some jobs requiring no physical effort for which some mentally competent people are nevertheless too old. In fact, I rather wish we had age limits for judges and senators, and those jobs are probably less demanding than running a whole federal law-enforcement agency.

Apparently corruption is not a factor Trump considers in making his appointments either, or, if he does, he enters it in the plus column.

Dude, STFU. Your Great American Idol ran the most corrupt administration in US history. I'm sure you raised hell every time he violated the law or corrupted agencies like the IRS.

What corrupted agencies would that be, exactly?

What's with the weasel words? Did he corrupt the IRS or not?

KO must have had a full diaper every day of the last 8 years as he watched the treason of Barack Obama unfold.

No wonder your country is so fucked up with the likes of waterboy and wrongway guiding things. A historic POTUS the whole world adored and filled Washington on his inauguration day is replaced by a reality show/real estate salesman who lies that not even a half full square beat his predecessor.

You folk seriously need a UHC system if only to deal with your massive amounts of obviously mental ill.

You need to keep things in perspective.

We are participating in a chat forum on a pornographic website, specifically the general board. At any one time there are rarely more than 100 people logged on and of that probably less than half are commenting on the "Trump" or political threads.

Waterboy and wrongway are just 2 of a half dozen whacko right wing commentators. The are not typical of those who support the right let alone do they have any role in guiding things.

They're here, like the rest of us, to get their jollies. The politics part of Lit is just a secondary interest for them that lets them vent their bigotry and hate.
