Trump is Sinking the Ship of State and Stealing the Lifeboats

The Kurdish civilians are running from Turkish bombs, today.
They fought ISIS on behalf of the USA. Trump betrayed them
for a handful of silver coins, and a sign posted on a Turkish building.

Turkish warplanes have started to carry out airstrikes on civilian areas.
There is a huge panic among people of the region.

“Turkey must pay a heavy price for attacking our Syrian
Kurdish partners,” Democratic senator, Chris van Hollen
said on Twitter. “Senators on both sides of the aisle won’t
support abandoning the one regional group most responsible
for putting Isis on its heels. Our bipartisan sanctions bill is
being finalised now.”

President Trump will visit Louisiana on Friday for a campaign rally

Presiderp Trumpypants Dunce-cap's team of tech bros have perfected
their nickname for Nancy Pelosi, and gifted the G.O.P.'s Pizzle of OZ
with "Nervous Nancy," Just in time for a Hate Rally in Louisiana.

- Matt Stieb

With just three days remaining before Louisiana’s gubernatorial election,
Republican candidate and House Representative Ralph Abraham is pulling
out the symbolic Trump-friendly gestures to rally his base against Democratic
Governor John Bel Edwards. On Tuesday, the congressman for northeastern
Louisiana’s fifth district filed a resolution to expel Speaker Nancy Pelosi from
the House-citing a clause in the Constitution that allows lawmakers to
“punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence
of two-thirds, expel a member.”

Since 1789, only five representatives have been expelled from the House.
Three were booted for supporting the Confederacy.

Grace Notes:
Ralph Abraham kicks off the last-minute stunt phase of the governor's race

October 8, 2019

"I guess we’ve entered the stunt phase of the governor campaign."

"How else to explain the fact that Republican U.S. Rep. Ralph Abraham,
who has missed boatloads of votes in Washington to be on the campaign
trail in Louisiana, is suddenly focused on his day job? The urgently
pressing matter that turned his attention back to Washington hasn’t
anything to do with his north Louisiana district, or with major matters
of state. "

Column: Trump should read the Constitution

- Doyle McManus
Oct. 6, 2019

This president doesn’t appear to know or care much
about the Constitution, especially the limits it puts
on his power.

“I have an Article II, where I have the right to do whatever I want,”
he said last year, referring to the part of the founding document
that establishes the executive branch.

But that’s not what Article II does at all.

Article II is the president’s job description. Like any job description,
it spells out what he should do — and, by implication, what he shouldn’t.

No president’s rights are absolute.

And if Trump had read the Founding Fathers, he would
know they saw foreign governments meddling in American
politics as a threat, not an opportunity.

“As often as elections happen, the danger of foreign influence recurs,”
warned John Adams, who would become vice president under George
Washington.

Article II limits the president’s powers at home too. It doesn’t enable
the president to order Congress to do his bidding, a feature that seems
to have surprised Trump.

“I find Congress more difficult, frankly, than many of the foreign leaders …
because they have their own views,” he said in June.

He treats the judicial branch of government the same way.

In Trump’s view, judges who rule in his favor are good;
judges who rule against him are bad, or Democrats,
or (in one case) “a Mexican.” His lawyers have argued
that Article II protects a president from being investigated
for any crime whatever, a superpower none of his predecessors
claimed.

Impeachment is in the Constitution too, in Trump’s favorite part, Article II.
It’s a legitimate exercise of Congress’ power, even if he doesn’t like it —
not an extraconstitutional coup d’etat, as he claims.

As for whistleblowers, they’re not in the Constitution, but they’re protected
by laws that are even older.

No matter what the president imagines Article II to contain,
he doesn’t have the right, “absolute” or otherwise, to distort
U.S. national security policy to damage a political rival or
stonewall legitimate inquiries from Congress.

I hope your homeland security people have got tabs on all Kurds currently living in the States. I imagine they'll be a little pissed at trump and likely unappreciative of his stable genius and great and umatched wisdom.
Payback will be on their minds. Might pay for trump to send the secret service into the rough to find the golf balls in the future.

- Rebecca Solnit

Do Americans still have a government?

I do not know.

What I do know is that President Trump and the upper echelons
of the executive branch are at war with the legislative branch,
the rule of law, the constitution, federal civil servants and the
American people.

The New York Times recently reported on a March meeting
about the border. According to aides, Trump “suggested that
they shoot migrants in the legs to slow them down”.
When he was told that wasn’t allowed, he ordered that the
border be closed. That set off a “frenzied week of presidential rages,
round-the-clock staff panic and far more White House turmoil than
was known at the time. By the end of the week, the seat-of-the-pants
president had backed off his threat but had retaliated with the
beginning of a purge of the aides who had tried to contain him.”

When we refer to the “president” we really mean whatever
ad hoc group of people with proximity is manipulating him,
lying to him, or preventing him from knowing or doing something.
They sometimes prevent harm or illegality. But this is only half
of the administrative “team.” The other half consists of those
serving his personal agenda, and in this respect the federal
government has become a subsidiary of Trump Incorporated.

"...we now face something worse: the corruption and decay of rule
of law in the service of billionaires and misogynistic white supremacists,
a system in which the most powerful gain power and shed accountability."

Passivity and disengagement got us here; political engagement will get us out.

Do you think that the MAGA crowd that form the trump base are starting to wake up to how they've been duped? Trump is not draining the swamp, he's the craziest alligator in it.

Why would American Evangelists celebrate the betrayal of the
Syrian Kurds ?

Is the ultimte goal of Evangelists, the fulfilment of their
End Times fantasy/death wish ?

How else do you explain their reaction to Trump's nearly
80 minute speech to the Value Voters 2019 summit ?

The Evangelicals received their orders, and defenses against reality
in the form of talking points during Trump's speech.
It does not matter to them that Christians will be murdered.
by Turkish forces. Syrian Christians are not the" chosen brand of
their particular Evangelist- type of God/god and Syrians not matter,
in their belief system.

The whole Republican machine has been gearing up for this moment,
and they have bet everything on it. What their ulimate goal is, is anyone's
guess. By their actions and propaganda, it does not include the will of
the majority of American people.

What could be so important to Evangelists, that they would let an
obsenity like unleashing Turkish forces on the Kurdish people,
blemish America ?

Turkey wants to annihilate the Kurds. Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)
allowed a community to let equality flourish, and allowed the banning
of forced marriages, abolished child marriage, forced gynological mutilation,
polygamy, honour killings, and violence and discrimination against women.

A woman’s testimony has been declared equal to a man’s!

Strangely, extremist American Evangelist Right Wing supporters of
Trump also oppose the equality of women, and would gladly indulge
in Turkish- style cruelty and torment of women.

Pastor Andrew Brunson, who was held in detention for two years
in Turkey, and whose release Trump secured in October 2018 by
lifting sanctions against top Turkish officials.

If Trump is using Mitch McConnnell's patented selfish
manoeuvre, what did Trump get for himself, for lifting sanctions ?

U.S. troops appear to have been deliberately targeted by Turkish forces
in an attempt to force them to withdraw — which they now are. U.S.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced on Sunday that the Pentagon
is evacuating 1,000 American troops the region after President Trump
ordered a “deliberate withdrawal” on Saturday night. Esper, who just
days ago promised that the U.S. would not abandon the region and its
S.D.F. allies, called the escalating violence a “terrible situation.”

800 suspected ISIS members have now escaped from S.D.F. custody following
a Turkish air strike

Turkey was the nursery for I.S.I.S., and tender caretaker of the murdering, corrupt
fuck-faces. Turkey is bombing the prisons that held ISIS prisoners.

and there have been other attempted escapes at other facilities,
including a prison which was the site of one of at least two ISIS
car bomb attacks since the fighting began. An ISIS flag has also
been raised in a region between a Kurdish-controlled town and
the Turkish border. Furthermore, there have been confirmed incidents
of sectarian atrocities perpetrated by Turkish-backed Syrian Arab militants,
as well as indications that Turkey has already expanded their offensive
beyond the limited scope it promised ahead of the invasion. Meanwhile,
the civilian death toll is rising, more than 130,000 people have now been
displaced in what may soon become a humanitarian disaster for half a million.

Erdogan, convincing Trump to act as according to his desires, lost no time
in launching a massive military offensive. Already airstrikes and shelling,
causing the mass displacement of some 60,000 people, has overshot the
30km safe zone that the Turkish leader promised.

Doral, the stinkiest, most run-down, tired, neglected,
and most prone of food-poisoning, of all of Trump's
private properties, is pronounced fit for royalty and
world leaders.

One of President Donald Trump's golf resorts in Florida will host
the G7 summit next June, the White House says.

White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney denied Presiderp Trumpypants
would profit from the event.

17 October 2019

In July, a federal appeals court rejected a case that argued
Mr Trump was unconstitutionally profiting through his hotel
in the nation's capital, near the White House.

(hmmm, who was it, that had oversight of that case ?)
