He can't go to security briefings but he can make time to find out what Kanye West thinks is important?

The next 4 years are going to be the greatest clusterfuck this country has ever seen.

I think the best thing everyone - regardless of political stripe - can do over the next 4 years is to develop and maintain a healthy sense of humour.

Hehe, that's funny!

From the Messiah's Handbook

Take your death with some seriousness, however. Laughing on your way to your execution is not generally understood by less-advanced life-forms, and they’ll call you crazy.

What neophyte Trump politically is already proving to be is nothing but independently brilliant.

He is hardly the only one who considers the overall American intelligence establishment to be mostly partisanly corrupted, and otherwise fueled by their own separate agendas. He is hardly the only one who realizes much of military command has been compromised for far too long by political correctness which, by surrendering to it, permits them to continue on in their positions toward full retirement as long as they loyally toe the administration line.

When one swears her or his oath to the Constitution, they are swearing to serve America - not any President or political Party.

Trump isn't going to pretend he's all-of-the-sudden typical President material just because he captured enough Elector votes: he knows exactly what he is and what he knows he is naturally not he reveals by picking political people like Pence to interpret for him, by picking "security" people like Flynn, Kelly, and Mattis to found his presidential security outlooks upon.

The mark of a great leader is someone who fully understands her strengths and weaknesses, who fully understands that no matter how great any leader may be, it is the key people below him who really show the quality of his leadership, and that she must pick those people wisely and then get the hell out of the way and fully and freely allow them to do the jobs he specifially picked them for.

And whereas the neophyte Trump couldn't have picked anyone better than Senator Rand Paul as his Secretary of State (whom I highly doubt would've conceded his present position to serve in a Cabinet he probably still has ideological doubts about - at least as far as intention goes), I recognize his choice of Tillerson is brilliance itself, too: how better to begin driving the totally necessary dividing stake in the ground between Russia and China than employing a man Putin obviously admires and trusts?

I really enjoy experiencing those who actually view Trump as stupid: it's that exact and total lack of foresight which further abets the political downfall they don't yet see underway.

Quoted for the CIA and a wonderful laugh a couple months from now.

I've been wondering how they can possibly whinge about missed breifings with a straight face. Are they simply blinded by partisanship? Are their memories that short? How can the very same thing that BHO did, that they dismissed for years, be important for the incoming president to do before his team is even in place to interpret it for him?

The actual president gets to choose who briefs him. Why should Trump bother with Obama's briefing while Obama is still apparently using members of the CIA to try to undermine the results of the election?

It isn't as if this outgoing my-way-or-the-highway administration is going to bend one inch Trump's way if anything needs to be actioned. The Obama administration is still piling on the bureaucracy as we speak.

The absolute best thing about the Obama Administration was he never bothered to do the work to hammer out anything legislatively after he lost his rubberstamp. It all goes away with the stroke of a pen Jan 21.

So you're comparing Obama missing briefings after he had been president for 4 years and knew what was going on in the world with Trump who has no idea what is going on in the world and has no apparent interest in finding out?

Is that really your position?

Maybe Trump will get his security briefings from 16 year olds on Twitter, it seems to be the only thing he reads.

how better to begin driving the totally necessary dividing stake in the ground between Russia and China . . .

Why is that necessary? They ain't exactly in cahoots now, and the U.S. needs China friendly a lot more than we need Russia friendly.

So he "finds out what is going on in the World" as filtered by the current Administration, and with this information...he does what before January 21st?

Nobody's impressed with the tired old playbook that every fucking Democrat who is ever lived is the smartest guy in the room and every Republican is an absolute idiot.

Barack Obama had no experience running anything ever. He was a self-described lazy pothead. He was advanced through his entire life on other peoples efforts. He seem to do a passable job of filling out a suit fr9m day one. The biggest problem with the government is it runs itself regardless of who is nominally in charge. I'm sure it'll be fine.

If you're really that worried about the state of the world, carry an extra pair of shorts if you're going to spoil yourself every time there's a current event.

Such an angry little transvestite!

Why is that necessary? They ain't exactly in cahoots now, and the U.S. needs China friendly a lot more than we need Russia friendly.

China is a net consumer of oil; Russia is a net producer. Russia controls oil and natural gas to Europe. Russia has more influence in the Middle East.

China needs our consumer markets more than we need inexpensive goods.

One difference is that Obama prefers to read his briefs, like Kennedy with whom they originated, rather than verbal briefings.

Even Trump says all he knows is what he reads on the internet, but I have my doubts that the intelligence community will be setting up a web site for national security briefings for Trump.

Although, it does occur to be they could create a site called www.brietbart.com, only accessible from the white house. Then he might read them.

As long as he has time to watch, listen, and respond/Tweet everything ever being said about him, I feel safe.

I think a president should be as prepared as possible to make the kind of decisions that are required of the position.

It seems you have a very different view of what a president should be ready to do. That doesn't surprise me. Just lay that partisan expectation bar on the floor so you won't be disappointed.

yeah yeah yeah. Obama being the smartest guy in the room doesn't want to be in the room to embarrass everybody else about how stupid they are so he just reads it because he's such a genius at reading...teleprompters. He got his training for that bybeing a constitutional lecturer which consisted of not one word that he wrote but simply reciting another professor's lecture notes.

Regardless, your theory is that Barack Obama can read a briefing but Trump cannot. Because reasons.

My theory is Trump doesn't need to go to the briefing because it's now opposite day. Whatever the Obama Administration currently has planned is hereby canceled. New plans are being made that don't involve the Obama Administration.

I don't see this as a huge risk in geopolitical terms because the Obama Administration is notoriously slow at arriving at any sort of decision to do anything. They dithered on what was an obvious military need to have a surge in Afghanistan all the way past the fighting season, and after all of his careful deliberations he just arbitrarily took whatever number the military gave him and cut it by 25%. Because reasons.

It's really pretty funny to see you guys scrambling to come up with reasons for why Obama does it it's brilliant leadership style, Trump does it it's catastrophic.

It's because they are all racist and they don't want to expose themselves.

And more to the point-

Gee...I wonder why Trump isn't that keen on the opinions and breifings assembled by whatever sycophant the outgoing adminstration found to replace Flynn.
