Trump farms lunatic fringe of Extremist Right

When it is voting time, where do you find more voters to push your count over the top ?

The lunatics can be encouraged to vote!

Middle-of-the-road voters do not need special favors.

As President Trump headed to Brussels for a tense NATO summit, his administration announced that it would pardon two ranchers who were convicted of setting fires on federal lands, in the latest sign that the president’s version of “law and order” includes an out clause for right-wing folk heroes.

The Bundy lunatics did whatever they wanted, and never thought there would be a price to pay.

The lunatics that took over a national park, destroyed property, destroyed ancient native American artifacts. An armed camp deprived the small town of income, and use of their park, and kept the tourists away.

They trashed and destroyed everything of worth.

They played militia games for a month.

What the Bundy's did not tell the public, was they were an astro-turf protest group. The Koch brothers wanted to exploit federal preserves for oil, gas, and minerals. Opening the parks to exploitation meant putting control of land in state official's hands.

The big "fuck you," that the Bundys were sending to federal authorities, was that they would not take responsibility, even as they used, abused, and destroyed what belonged to all American citizens.

The proof, is what we have in July 2018. Half of the land put aside for nature, wildlife, and national landmarks, have been opened to exploitation. Clean water and clean air is endangered. Scott Pruitt at the EPA rolled back many protections against poisons and cancer causing agents. The very soil that nurtures nature, will be poisoned.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday pardoned two eastern Oregon ranchers serving time in federal prison for setting fire to public land in a case that inflamed their supporters and gave rise to the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge

Amanda Marshall, who was Oregon's U.S. attorney when the appeal occurred, defended it, and said she was disturbed by Trump's pardon of the ranchers.

"It means their conviction doesn't exist. I find that incredibly troubling,'' Marshall said. "I think it's a slap in the face to the people in Pendleton who served on that jury, and a slap in the face to the Constitution.''

The elder Hammond said he was trying to fend off invasive species.

Prosecutors argued the fire also was to cover up illegal deer poaching and got out of control, placing firefighters who had to be airlifted out of the area in grave danger.

The federal pursuit of the Hammonds followed years of permit violations and unauthorized fires, and they never accepted responsibility, said Marshall. Her office appealed the lighter sentences because she said the trial judge didn't have discretion to depart from a mandatory minimum sentence. The Hammonds could have faced less than a year in prison under a plea offer they declined, she said.

He doesn't give a fuck who he gets on his side. All that matters is that he has enough to stay in power. Welcome to politics.
