The original poster has not been back since he brought us this startling revelation. I was going to ask him about what seems a fairly tepid recommendation for the other candidate.

As I understand it, voting for Trump would, clearly, be treason so that, obviously, is off the table.

If I understand him correctly he's suggesting stay home and don't vote. He seems to be clear that we don't have to vote for Clinton.

Is there some reason (since Trump is clearly off the table and off his rocker!!) that I shouldn't just go ahead and vote for Clinton? This seems rather confusing to me.

I see in his previous post that he has been a Clinton supporter from the very beginning. I believe Zumi would call that "jump street." It is probably a hip thing to say because I've seen Luk plagiarize it lately. I am withholding judgment on that until Zumi weighs in one way or the other. I'm not sure if as a black man, Zumi would feel flattered that a white hipster rips off his riff or whether it's insulting to steal a black man's intellectual property. There's been some discussion about this sort of thing lately.

I think not voting at all is usually the worst alternative, but this year I'd put voting for Trump as the worst.

There's voting third party or write in that's an even better alternative. Of course the best from my point of view would be voting for Clinton, but for 50% of the country that just ain't happening. So don't vote for her, but don't be a moron by voting for Trump.

Mathematically you are, of course, correct. I can't even see a third-party getting up into the range to mildly annoy either dominant party. If I thought otherwise, I'd be beating the bushes for financing on behalf of the green party at the moment simply because they're much more likely to pull from the greater of two poor choices.

Take a big toke and just imagine how fucking great it would be if so many people got turned off by both of these candidates that suddenly a Libertarian candidate got 35% of the vote.

He wouldn't even have to win, just get close enough to be considered viable next time around and attract an even better libertarian candidate.

I would more or less agree with the stance if it is simply a principled vote.

You legitimately want that third-party candidate or you actually do think he would be better at governing than the other two I think you absolutely should, because it'd be nice to have a tally of sentiment on that.

However, as just as none of the above vote it doesn't do a very good job because it doesn't really indicate who of the above you dislike more and the problem with that is both sides learn nothing because both sides assume you voted as a protest vote against the other guy, not them.

The problem with that is low voter turnout and be explained away as people being too lazy or not feeling "inspired" by either of the two scumbags.

If 100% of people voted and the two candidates only ever got a total of 50% of the vote I think the two major parties would eventually get the message. Or at least one of them would. Or a viable 3rd party would show up.
