The few of us who remember the time on Lit immediately after the September 11 attacks will recall that conspiracy theories about the perpetrators of the attacks were, to put it mildly, a fringe. There was one person on the GB, a woman as I recall, who was pretty vocal on the subject and was derided by everyone and ignored by most. And while these conspiracies never had any real sway with even people who disliked Bush — the one Democrat in Congress who flirted with trutherism lost her next primary — it's safe to say that 20 years ago, most Truthers were on the far left.

I mention this because I am here to inform you that a mere 14 years after George W. Bush was President of the United States, "9/11? No one really knows who did it. Total mystery!" is going to be part of the 2024 Republican platform:
