hoping to block certification of the vote in a state that outgoing President Donald
Trump lost wrote in their complaint that “evidence will be shortly forthcoming.”
That never happened. Their legal team voluntarily dismissed their baseless voter
fraud allegations hours before oral arguments had been scheduled to occur on
Monday morning.

Wisconsin voter Michael Langenhorst, the lead plaintiff in the action, did not explain
his sudden about-face in his notice of dismissal.

His attorney Michael Dean did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment.

Greg Sargent wrote before the election, Trump’s legal strategy was predicated
on getting within “cheating distance,” with the margins narrow enough that
he could convince Republican judges to intercede on his behalf and hand
him the election. It hasn’t happened.

You may remember that four years ago, Trump managed to win the electoral college
because he prevailed in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania by a combined total
of just 77,000 votes.

That tiny margin was enough to overcome Hillary Clinton’s 3 million-vote lead
in the popular vote and make him president with 304 electoral votes.

Final tallies are being completed;
Georgia is conducting a hand recount.
Could be a recount in Wisconsin if the Trump campaign decides to pay for one. (They did.)
Here are the margins by which Biden won three critical states, as of Wednesday morning:

* Arizona: 10,457
* Georgia: 14,028
* Wisconsin: 20,565
* Total: 45,050

That’s the bullet we just dodged, all because of 45,000 votes.

Trump’s campaign asked a federal judge on Wednesday to throw out Pennsylvania’s
election results and have the state’s Republican-controlled legislature appoint its
presidential electors.

Under Pennsylvania law, the state’s presidential electors are to be appointed by
Gov. Tom Wolf, a Democrat, based on the popular vote.

The proposed updated version of the lawsuit reiterates Trump’s request for Brann
to block certification of the election results by Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar.

It asks that, as an alternative, Brann enter an order handing control of the presidential
electors to the legislature.

Republican leaders ask Michigan election board to delay certification of results,
in latest GOP effort to cast doubt on the vote

Republican National Committee and Michigan Republican Party issued a joint statement
Saturday calling for Michigan’s state canvassing board to delay certification of the results
of the election, marking the latest attempt by party leaders to intervene in the state’s
electoral process.

In the letter — signed by RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, who is from Michigan,
and state GOP Chair Laura Cox — the officials ask the canvassing board to adjourn
for 14 days and allow for a “full audit and investigation” before they convene to certify
the state’s election results, a procedural step that is set to take place on Monday afternoon.
