And the rambling didn’t end when the questioning began. Likewise, it’s difficult to determine whether Trump knows where reality ends and the lies begin.

In 1988, incumbent president George HW Bush was running for re-election against Massachusetts governor Mike Dukakis. A bad guy who just happened to look very scary and very black named Willie Horton killed a guy and got sentenced to life in prison. Massachusetts had a weird law at the time that for every ten years of good behavior a lifer could get a 48 hour weekend pass. Horton had nine uneventful weekends, on his tenth he ended up raping and killing another woman.
Bush made it look like this was Dukakis' fault, even though it was Dukakis' predecessor who signed the law.
America was significantly whiter, older and more rural at the time and the ad scared the hell out of redneck America.
Since the Swiftboat 2024 attacks aren't working, I'm figuring Team Orange Fascism will pivot to racism one more, hence Willie Horton 2.0
