Truly Evil Characters

Well, there's the problem then. Were they evil, or simply insane? Hitler thought he was doing the right thing. Only problem is: he was wrong, and he had enough power do to epic damage.

Evil is imo to have a personal perception of right and wrong, and to knowingly break it just for the fuck of it.

If I believe God tells me to strangle kittens, I'm not evil for doing His bidding. if i woke up one morning and thought "Yeah, think I'm gonna go strangle me some kittens today", then I'm truly fucked up.

I started out writing Halloween story #2. My intent was to have a hugh contrast between a truely vile and evil character. Unfortunately after I read what I'd written, I discovered I don't have it in me to write such a character. I don't think that's all bad.

I can't either. I don't believe in it, I guess. There are people who do evil; sometimes, they don't give a shit whether they do or not. I met one person who was totally a barbarian-- the only criterion for her was what was in it for her, personally. No, really-- UTTERLY. She would do anything whatsoever for an advantage, if she could be sure it wouldn't come back on her. Most amoral person I ever met. But she had a reason, every time, and I thought then, as I do now, that she was emotionally ill because of that flaw. I have never felt, yet, that someone like that required to be written about.

Isn't harming people for personal gain kinda not-good too?
Exactly. That's the sort that does most of the evil in the world. People are willing to slaughter folks for money. They make a virtue of it, and install it as a prime principle of life. It's maybe not pure evil, but it sure counts as everyday evil. I still don't write about them.

I think I have had at least one truly evil character in a poem. Okay two. But I have to go find that poem....

I am going to go find that poem before I lose it...again.

Damn it, Fool, don't let it hang fire like this! Did you find the poems or didn't ya?

I would think that evil is in the eye of the beholder, like beauty, I consider Hitler to be one of the most evil people in history and I think most others do too. The president of Iran thinks he was one of the greatest men of history and so do many Americans.
