The trucking industry warned that President Biden’s vaccine mandate could terminate 37 percent of drivers during the supply chain crisis, the Washington Examiner reported Monday.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA), Truckload Carriers Association, International Foodservice Distributors Association, and other business groups sent a letter to the Biden-Harris administration to warn the vaccine mandate on companies with over 100 employees could exacerbate the trucker shortage. The ATA said last month the industry is short drivers by 30 percent.

Good

Basics...."if you expect us to be responsible people, we won't be and it will wreck the economy"

Fine...wreck the economy...and take ownership for doing it...stop blaming others for your irresponsible behavior.

Supply chain crisis is current. Vaccine mandates are months away.

But masks work just fine. And the unvaxed are no threat to the vaccinated, because, ya know, science.

Science has shown that the virus is more infectious than previously understood via Delta.

And science has shown that vaccines are effective at increasing protections against severe illness.

The internet has shown us that idiots can rationalize their stupidity no matter the circumstance

Your usual penchant for ignoring context notwithstanding, I don't think anyone ever said the unvaxed were "no threat to the vaccinated".

You could get over your control issues and let people live. Whether someone else is vaccinated has no bearing on you.

Responsibility exists with or without "control"

You have requirements at your job.

You either meet them or you don't. That's your responsibility..and if you fail to be responsible for the requirements you need to keep your job....you will lose your job.

I'm not relevant to someone else's failure to meet their obligations.

What my employer and I agree to does not concern you. In this case you are relevant to the situation. You're trying to impose some arbitrary rule based on your irrational fear on employer-employee relationships that have no bearing on you. Having said that, there are still limits on what an employer can impose on its employees.

It's relevant to this post, which is what I was commenting on.

I'm not trying to impose anything on anyone. I applaud employers who do so because it's in the best interest of public health. And I applaud responsible people who don't need a mandate to fulfill their societal responsibility. And I certainly mock those who refuse to do so.

I certainly also welcome those who refuse to be responsible to admit that they are doing so rather than making up bullshit from VAERS reports that they don't undersfand to rationalize their fears or blaming others for their own behavior.

Yea but Biden isn't my job.

So fuck him, fuck you and fuck your mandate.... you can all go fuck yourselves. :D

They're not making up bullshit. They've come out and said "my body, my choice" but that's not good enough for you. You've had an obsession with controlling the behavior of others. Stop hiding behind "responsibility" and public health. Public health does not trump liberty. You're the reason the framers established a property requirement to vote.

No, he can't.

Authoritarian control freaks gotta control freak.

They can't possibly mind their own business, ever.

I don't care what their rationalizations are.
.that's between them and their employer who has every right to fire them for not meeting their obligations.

I could give a shit about why they want to do it....there is no rationalization that makes it not irresponsible. And I have no desire to respect that irresponsible decision.

I find it interesting why you think your respect is of any importance here. The issue here isn't employers making decisions. Many employers wouldn't be pushing this had it not been for the government mandates which you support.

I don't care whether you find it important. Many employers wanted to push this, but didn't have the ability to without the government getting involved....so this helps them do so.

No, they didn't need the government. You need the government. You're just to shortsighted to see it will come back to haunt you down the road.

Yes...blah blah blah....I'll be vaccinated and happy and employed. And those who are irresponsible and who can't meet simple requirements for employment will not be

The government didn't make me do anything nor did I need the government to tell me how to be a responsible person

Wrong. Each and every employer can make their own rules. No vaccine, no job. Just that simple. What they do need is the government to have their back on liability issues.

Would this be a bad time to point out that people are going back to stadiums and concerts
with no significant uptick in Covid cases?

So what the hell is the danger of being alone in the cab of your semi-tractor?

Are you one of those ardent blanket groupthink people
who want those who "survived" Covid to be able
to prove that they were vaccinated, because,
you know, EVERYONE must submit for the
greater good according to their ability?

Is there a standardized doctor's note for that sort of circumstance?

I think the die has been cast. Next will be annual flu vaccines. Then HPV vaccines. And so on. This Covid is the top of a slippery slope of government mandates. Eventually, the government will find the limit of the most compliant of the sheep and that will be the baseline.

Wrong. Each and every employer can make their own rules. No vaccine, no job. Just that simple. What they do need is the government to have their back on liability issues.

Yes, that was my point. They want government to take the lead.

Whatever businesses feel is needed to protect employee and consumer health is fine with me. It does t inconvenience me in the slightest
