Trouble saving pics

I used to be able to right click on an image that I wanted to save and it would save that image in the format that it was posted on the web. Now, everytime I right click an image, the image is always titled "untitled.bmp". Anyone know how I can get back to the old method?

It would help to know what browser you're using.

Does it give you any other options for file type? IE5.5 usually has a list of possible file types when saving a picture with right-click.

Check the "advanced" section of your Internet Options -- there may be something there.

I've no experience with IE 6.0. I've heard too many bad things about it.

One of the bad things I've heard about it is tht many of the functions (like ********** support) require downloading plugins to make 6.0 work like older versions. I know I had to download "ART image support" to view and save AOL's proprietary image format.

Check the Windows Update site to see if there is plugin for saving pictures that may have gotten lost.

Are you sure it isn't just the pictures you're clicking on? I get at least gif and bmp options when I right-click to save.

When I started my Broadband connection it wouldn't work with
IE6.After reverting to 5.5 I've had no more problems.

Just tried it with IE6 and win98 and there were no problems. I could save it as jpg.
I'll try it tomorrow with IE6 and XP.

I still can't save any pics. I know it is not the type of pics, I've tried bmp, jpg, jpeg and gif. I'm using IE6 and XP and have been since XP came out. It's worked up until a couple of days ago. This is really bugging me. I bet it is something real easy too.

I did some backtracking and realized the problem had fixed itself shortly after I had changed IE's cache settings. Originally, I had set the cache to "Check for newer versions of stored pages: Automatically" and the cache size to almost 900MB. I had scaled the cache back to 100MB and changed the page-check interval to "Every time you start Internet Explorer" due to some problems I was having with another site I visit often. After that, the image problem was no longer a bother.

I think that may have been it. I first changed my settings to what he said, but that didn't do it, or maybe I didn't give it time to kick in. I changed it again to look for newer versions everytime I visit that site, and that seemed to do it. Thanks for the solution, I don't know what I would do if I couldn't save any porn!
