Trouble Getting a Profile Picture in Discussion Boards

I'm having trouble adding a profile picture for the discussion boards. I got a picture for my profile page easy, but just not here.

At first it would say the file size of the pic I want was to big to use, then when I get one that's the correct size it would tell me it Failed to Upload.

Is there something wrong here? How do I get myself a profile picture?

Maximum size is 150 x 150 pixels. I don't know if there are file type restrictions.

There's also a restriction of 30k in size, so check that.

What is the image format? The restrictions for that aren't listed, but the standards are usually .jpg, .gif, and .png. If it isn't one of those, convert to one of those three formats ( leaning toward the first two, because this is older board software and I'm not sure if .png would be in the list )

I got it now. I uploaded it as an avatar instead of a profile pic.

They don't say anywhere, but profile pics have to be vetted by Laurel. And I think she just stopped doing that. Now, you can add one to your Author profile as I think that will be the only profile for the entire system. Eventually.

Terminology matters.

Avatar: The picture that appears in forum posts to the left <<<<<<.

Signature picture: Appears below forum posts in the signature area. vvvvvv

Profile picture: Appears on your forum profile page, but no where else. <^v>
