Tropical Storm Watch... Houston

Unfortunately, weather in Houston is known to change suddenly. In this case, the change is likely late Wednesday. Or maybe it won’t change at all 🤷🏻*♂️

The storm is predicted to come on strong on Wednesday. Also threw in Galveston so you could watch both as the storm hit the Gulf short first then moved inland to Houston. Of course, the other storm was supposed to come this way too, but decide to run up the east coast.

Austin County; am staying where I am (living in 100 yr old home that has survived every hurricane that has come thru here); putting yard furniture in garage temporarily, potted plants up against the North wall of house. Empty cat litter plastic containers filled with water 'just in case' the city loses power (to pump). Near the hospital so probably on the top of the list of areas to restore power, if need be. Not sure how to protect the six ft tall tomato plants tho.

I checked the Galveston video, but of course it's night. You could still see the "surf," which usually barely exists on the gulf coast. So far, there's nada.

We got bumped of South Padre Island once because of a hurricane that eventually made land fall almost a hundred miles south. South Padre was on the north side of the storm so it got a sea wind and the surf was heavy. It looked impressive, but nothing happened.

Actually, the Gulf coast of Texas is always pounded by the water. I have never seen the shore not have "surf". I do know that the Florida coast hardly ever has a wave come ashore except when a hurricane or tropical storm comes up through the gulf. Texas isn't as bad as the Atlantic side of Florida but it does have bigger waves than they do in Clearwater, Fla.

And the storm surge is now hitting Galveston. It's raining and dark there. While in Houston, it is still dry.

Category 3 or 4 is no joke.
It's beginning to remind me of Katrina.

I hope everyone makes it through safely.

Once again, it died as it hit shore. Looks like today in Houston will be a little gray/grey but not all that bad. Now Louisiana, will get the brunt of it. Good luck to our neighbor to the east.

Not much to see on the cams, the storm surge has slacked off. Still a little higher up than unusual but not like the last couple of days.
