trolling for bad feedback

Well, here's the thing. The mature approach is just not to go there. When you play games with them in LW, you're just one of them playing games in LW. You're no different from them. It's not a case of not understanding it--just the opposite. You go there and toy with them with in-your-face stories, you're just one of them.

All you do is rile them up to continue doing damage to the story file and the authors and cheapen yourself as a writer (not to mention needlessly picking up personal trolls).

You're right and I don't deny it.

But that's my philosophy in general. You hear that expression in many walks of life "They're not worth it"

But I have news for you, the people who "aren't worth it" know that's what people say so they just keep going because they feel no one thinks they're worth it.

I'm the type to make them worth it and dose them with their own crap.

They want to be petty and what passes for malicious here I can do the same. Only difference is I don't take it to bed with me and I have no doubt-going by the sheer malice in their comments-they do.

So it is what it is.

I don't tell other people to do it, its just something I do to each their own.

Obviously lovercraft68

You're not the only one who thinks that way. If you've check out that genre lately you'll see half the stories there must be written with the same intent.

The problem is that LW is so full of those kinds of stories now, there is little room for the authors who used to write well thought out and well written stories. The best of the best, Steel, Rehnquist, Macomber, they've all stopped writing in that genre. Why? Because all the racially based cuck stories have the trolls all fired up and a lot of the other readers have fallen away. It's getting so you can't write and reconciliation story anymore without getting dragged through the dirt with all the cuck writers who are doing it purposely.

I've been a member here for many years and have never seen the vitriol as bad as it is now. You'd think these people were members of congress!

I really do wish Laural would add a cuckold category but we all know that will never happen. It just seems a shame to destroy a genre where so many great stories have appeared in the past.

I'm not sure that it is only the cuck stories that inflame the trolls. I think any LW story where the wife isn't submissive or the hubby is seen as a 'wimp' is a red flag. A strong wife, especially if she bosses the husband is an anathema - unless she is suitably beaten or otherwise chastised.

I agree...

I guess it's a "chicken or the egg," type question, but I remember when the LW category had some terrific authors submitting well written stories of heart break, raw emotions, and pain. Some resulted in the couple breaking up and sometimes they got back together, but in either case they were well done and received scores that reflected the good work.

Sure, almost every day one or two of the so-called, "cuckold," stories would also pop up and even some of them would make it to the low 4's.

Then it seemed that more and more cuckold stories started infiltrating the genre. The more that appeared the lower the scores got and the more nasty the trolls became. Soon even the good stories started getting poor reviews and scores, especially if the couple reconciled in the end. One by one the authors who really knew how to write dropped out.

Today there are a host of trolls that will go to the end of any story and read only the last couple paragraphs to make sure the male lead in the story has properly gutted and filleted the evil bitch that cheated on him and if he hadn't, they deem him a wimp, worthy of the only score possible, 1.

At present, a well written story of infidelity is lucky to make the 4.0 mark. The average score for the "cuckold," story has slid to the 2's. There just doesn't seem to be any room for a well written, emotional story dealing with the true-life aspects of adultery anymore. Like the blacksmith, it seems to be a thing of the past.

The very first story I wrote for Lit was in Loving Wives. I had no idea of the state of that category. There was a small flood of comments right off the bat, many of them picking at minor issues in the story, some of them attacking me, personally under the assumption that I had written a true-life account. For the most part, though, the story has done pretty well and has stayed well above the 4.0 range.

But I haven't written for LW since, upon finding out, through these forums, the nature of the crowd that reads the category and what the apparent expectations are for stories posted to LW. It's not that I'm intimidated, but what the readership seems to expect is not something I normally want to write about.

I've written a few for LW, but always ones I thought belonged in the category, not in some childish game to rev up the trolls there.
