Don't bother
reading that tripe
Darn, this comment isn't
a poem either

Anonymous because I need anonymity."

It's comments like these, without any justification, that really piss me off. Anybody feel like a spot of troll hunting?

I like SunrockSin's poetry and certainly do not consider it 'tripe'.

I take it you like his writing also? Well, that means we two cancel out that one comment. ;)

Best way around it is to ignore the comment and to leave worthwhile feedback that help the poet and that relates directly to the writing.

Good idea, I find that a lot of people simply judge a piece, without care or concern to the author. It is one thing to critique a work, with the intention of helping a writer, (which I myself find is very kind, as long as the intent is to assist..) But that comment which was posted, is not going to help anyone.. not even the person who posted it... *sigh*

I wonder if they noticed the poem was an acrostic?

Probably not. I know I missed it! Can I still get away with saying I am still learning?

I have a stick, and I feel like killing something. :cathappy:

By the way, how would you feel if you got a comment like this:
"Your poetry makes me want to fuck your ass."

....someone sent you a comment like that? ...see thats the very thing that just isn't helpful, or really anything. I don't know why people bother to comment if that's all they have to say.

Depends. If I ever write a hot poem about my ass...

!!!!

I totally agree. Ignoring trolls is better than wasting good writing time hunting them down. They do it FOR attention, right?

You post for attention!

(I hope someone pays attention to my post to Maria. And if she replies, I get to post again. I'm sure someone will pay attention to my second post, then realize that I haven't posted in 2 weeks, then comment on that fact and tell me that they're glad I'm back!)

If such a comment was left about my poem Impossibilities (anal sex poem) then I suppose I'd take that as a compliment. If it was left on other poems, I might find it disturbing, though. :)

EVE!! you crack me up to no end. I love you, will you marry me?

;)
Well... will have to do it if we get married? I haven't dated in several years, and I wouldn't mind doing it, though I'd like to have a man, but I guess you'll do. Besides, we'll be married, so it should be okay.

I accept.

By the way, white is out of the question for me. I look fat in white... and a few other colors.

A couple o' comments

First: Mr. Sin, I always enjoy your work. Dim-witted me, I missed the acrostic too. No matter. Keep posting, 'K? I like your poems, even if I don't always comment on them. I still blame you, though, for keeping that Deep Purple riff in my head. It's now stuck on continuous play. Yikes.
duh duh dah, duh duh dah dah, duh duh dah, duh dah...
Second: Speaking for myself, I actually don't mind trolls. Means someone has looked at my work. They don't like it, that's OK. I don't always like it in retrospect. My all-time favorite comments have been negative. These were not from trolls, but they certainly thunked me in the head about my writing, and were always sheer dead on.

Writing. It's a hard thing.

I no longer worry over the trolling.
The voting is nice, but not a *all being* thing. I write, post, and go on.
I love being here and learning from some great poets. Just being able to participate in this crazy world we call poetry.
... I am honored beyond words to just be a part of this community.

Just me ~

and in SOME cases

trolls scare me and come across as psychotic and probably dangerous---like this email I got today---

Dear Maria,
First of all, I believe it only to be "adult" for someone to write to someone
else in this site when they have something to say to that person. In my case,
my address was listed as a critic. In your case it was obvious that you did not
have the intelligence, but the IGNORANCE to somehow hide behind who you are and
it was with a little effort that I could locate something on you so I could send
this message to you. I'm not sure just how intelligent that is, but when you
mention "ignorance" you caught my attention.
For many, many, many years Mexicans/Chicanos were considered "Spicks",
"Beaners", "Greasers", etc., in our society in America. Also during those
years, African Americans were considered to be "niggers", "Negroes", "niggas",
"spades", "honkies" also in our society in America. During those years America
was a land mostly free of dangerous drugs, drug dealing, drive-by shootings,
welfare fraud, illegal immigration, drug abuse, unwed motherhood, siblings that
didn't know who their real natural fathers were (i.e. bastards). For some odd
reason at the same time, America was looked upon by the rest of the world as
"the place to be". So I guess America was pretty ignorant at the
time---according to your definition. For some reason now that women are equal
to men in most anything, and racial prejudice and segregation are out (along
with the former proper nouns of Nigger, Nigga, Spick, Greaser, etc., etc.) our
American society is on the right track, with a lot of unwed motherhood, teenaged
and adult gangs, prisons full of law breakers to the point that we pay high
taxes just to build more prisons to house them? I could go on and on on this but
you should be able to "catch the drift"?
I am a white man, married to an Asian woman. Even where my wife comes from, an
African American is known as "Jungle Bunny" and kids born to Caucasian/Asian
couples are openly discriminated against to the point that unless they are
taken out of that country, they are considered to be "non-citizens". Yet this
country has one of the fast growing economic levels in the world and is
considered to be by the United Nations to be one of the most desirous for people
to live in. But I guess that would be defined as "ignorant" to you?
I'd like an answer on this from you. And I would hope that when you give me one
that you will use your name and address, instead of being "ignorant" and less
than "adult"?

That message and the original comment are just creepy, Maria. It's the kind of thing that reminds me why projective tests like the Rorschach work. Some people read their own obsessions into things.

I would recommend you remove the comment from your poem, put that person on your "ignore" list, and flag your e-mail client to treat incoming mail from them as spam.

I've found I've needed to use the ignore function in the past. It actually works quite well.

:) Ihave been working on just that. What baffles me is that I dont see how any of the racist remarks have anything to do with the poem. I was hoping I wasnt being paranoid, I got another email, I didnt even open it, then I blocked the sender

:rose:

Okay. I am just plain tired of being ignored. I never get scary emails, penis jpegs from strangers, obsessive fan mail (eh hem) or anything like that. What am I, chopped liver?

:pouting:

sure I hvae gotten enough negative comments on my poetry like YOU CALL THIS A POEM?? and the one that said something like Anna dear, it is easy to get an H when you have a group of friends following you around giving you a five on anything you write.... but this is crap etc etc etc but no threats or anything.

Try writing something politic.

Pure Drivel!

So, people who watch O'Reilly don't really have brains huh? The words in this "poem" expose a narrow minded, reactionary liberal who can't stand to see opinions other than his own expressed in the media. He can't refute the content of O'Reilly's broadcasts; he can only belittle those who watch him.

I'll bet this public comment doesn't last long. He won't be able to accept an adverse opinion of what he thinks is intellectual poetry either.
No, moron. I said people who lip-sync to it don't have brains. Learn to read.

Or try writing something even distantly related to Christianity. I got me a God-head. And it's even an oddball God-head as far as God-heads go. All for writing about an episode one Christmas Eve:

Sad, Sad, Sad.....
12/27/04 by don87654 in USA
It is with sadness that you take something as sweet, holy and sacrament as my Jesus' birth, and try to make something erotic about it. But what can we expect from mostly pagan observation of something holy? As a formally educated Theologian, it is obvious to me that you have done little about your religious views except to study portions of the book they call the Bible. Read other books, notably the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Nag Hammadi Library, and READ-don't listen to what other people say about Jesus. Look in the Internet at sites called Glastonbury.com, or jammupress.com, and find out for yourself what Jesus THE Christ was all about.
I believe there is room for eroticism stories and I believe that there is room for Jesus stories, but the two do not need intermixed, even if you are Jew. Read about Jesus' wife/wives Mary Magdelene and Martha, read about His son, Josephus, and you will see for yourself. Excuse yourself from paganism and traditional Protestantism, Catholicism, Mormonism and read the TRUTH. You might come away a different person....
I love the "my Jesus" (your Jesus?) and "even if you are Jew". (Um...huh?)
