Tricking Your Internal Censor

I think it's not so much tricking the internal censor as hitting it with a hammer until it runs away and hides.

Anonymity helps a lot I think. It's a lot easier to really cut loose with whatever happens to be festering in the imagination if you're not worried about what other people think. I still have a way to go, but I enjoy the freedom.

On a site like this I'm not worried about being judged for anything I write, since chances are it's already been written before. I haven't had to write anything yet that really aggravated he censor but I see a few that I'm working on will test that theory for sure.

My last chapter in my story I had to write a horrible scene. It scared me because I knew exactly what happened in the scene, and it wasn't pretty. I didn't want to write the details of the atrocity, so I censored it. I just couldn't put it on paper, and what I managed to get out insinuated enough to still be upsetting to me. (I guess that's why I can't read Stephen King and stuff).

So that's one boundary I've found. I'm sure I'll discover others.
