Dr. Carl Sagan 1934 - 1996

Just watched Contact for the umpteenth time. Felt the need to do
this tribute to one of the greatest thinkers and humanitarians of
our time. Of all time really. Carl ranks right up there with Einstein. A true genius and old soul who came back to help show
us the way. That's re-incarnation. Some get it. Hopefully we all
will someday.

For those that don't know, Dr. Carl Sagan was an astronomer,
biologist and philosopher of preminent credentials. One of the
founders of the SETTI project (Search for Extraterestial Intelligence), he taught and coaxed some of the brightest minds
in science to expand their minds to grasp the spiritual quest of
mankind.

I miss his wisdom and guiding light.

I like watching PBS a lot. Carl had a series there, and it was one
of the most enlightening things in the wasteland of tv.

He transcended science with his care and love of the human race.
I think he became skeptical about our survival for a while.

But he always took the high road, teaching, enlightening, sharing
everything he knew and dreamed about.

I've read his thesis's. An extraordinary man. I miss him.

Billions and Billions of stars.....

Isn't that the truth. Very profound in such a simple way.

Our limited perception of reality...no wonder they haven't made
contact.

Was fortunate to see this one on the big screen. I'll never forget the very beginning of the film, and it's still a movie I get "stuck" on when I'm clicking through the channels.
:rose:

That's what happened yesterday when I took a break and flipped
through the channels for news, etc.

The book is awesome, and his other books are a joy to read as well. If you liked the movie, read the book.

Thanks, nice to know there are some thinkers out here. :rose:
