Trees/ Pen and Ink

Windsong, very nice use of perspective AND textures. I have seen a similar concept, but your point of view makes for a much stronger piece than what I had seen.

Limb of the Eye, I think deserves to be seen larger and clearer as there appears to be some imagery that suffers from the reproduction inadequacies. From what I see, I like what I perceive as a bit of Hokusai wavishness in the foliage in the background. Fun organic undulations in the fore.

(I really like your tree work...especailly those that combine figures as well.)

You got trees and cats like 'way down, Kcar.

God.

Great stuff.

And there's nothin like pen and ink.

You do rock. You rock big. What can I say?

Thanks, Wx2. I will do further work with trees and figures then. ;)

Thanx, too, for the detailed critique, and the compliment about the perspective in the Windsong image. It's not correct, but it didn't really have to be for it to work.

The tree and bass cello was done as a commission for a woman who played the same instrument in our city's orchestra...however, she let me run with it...so I allowed my mind to drift, my deceased mom turned up, and I went from there. Mom loved classical music and had played violin in the same orchestra many yrs before- I was 16 when she passed away. Because of her love for classical music, I was exposed to it. I "heard" her playing in my head before I began this piece.

Hahaha! That's delightful! (Hokusai wavishness)...and true. When I finished this one I wasn't happy with it...it was too flat and lacked contrast. So I cut some heavy paper of the same type I'd used for the drawing and painted black "leaves" on it (very loosely). When I laid it on the bottom foreground of the piece, it worked pretty well, so I glued it down. I liked that, so I loosely repeated that effect in the upper part of the drawing, painting on the actual surface. The drawing became a little more interesting and also picked up some depth.

As for the wavy leaf work in the background, I love patterns just as Hokusai and Matisse did. I love Chaos Theory (the study of hidden order in complex systems) for the same reason...finding hidden patterns in nature.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other photos of this image, as it was sold long ago. Glass glares, and I always forgot to take the pics untill after I'd framed them. I have a digital these days, and no money to frame stuff, so I get better pics.

PS: Do you work in Nuclear medicine, or anything nuclear?

A compliment is still a compliment, eloquent or not. Thankyou so much, pet! :rose:

If you show appreciation, I know you enjoyed it - that always makes me feel wonderful. :)

Hahaha!

I had to think about that for a minute. *giggle*

I thought you might be into medicine of this type because of your avy in conjunction with this info:

Biography:

So why the Bio-hazard symbol in your avy?

My name is "WARNINGWARNING"

Very often (because of the exessive need for litigation in this country) you can find products with an "!" in a triangle, followed by "WARNING" and subsequently the type of hazard; Small parts, choking hazard, functional sharp edges etc... . A bio-hazard is not found on product (in this country, but I understand that, from "W" that in Iraq they.....whatever), but it is something that we are "warned" about.

HOWEVER, I chose the name, not for that sort of warning, rather "warning ! Warning!" as spoken by Robot on "Lost in Space" . Also known to say "Danger! Danger! Will Robinson!"

Yes, Nerds, I know the Robot shown in my AV is NOT the Lost in Space Robot.

Pen and ink was my first love, artistically. It was Krazy Kat and Pogo.
