Whilst waiting for my repaired digcam to return to me so I can return to my photographic hobbies, I browsed through some of my travel photos and though I'd drop in here again to share some!

Hello to my lil Lit family, I hope you are doing well...
*hugs*

Amsterdam

This is the main Paleis (palace, heh) in downtown A'Dam. I know it's easy to think of that city just in regards to the Red Light Districts and the hash bars (both of which are entertaining, to say the least) but there is so much more to it than that! It is a truly melting-pot metropolis with scads of culture and interesting things to see! The Van Gogh museum, Anne Frank Haus, canal life, Keukenhof Gardens...the list is endless!

Not that I would deny you glimpses of the more interesting areas, though...

Outside one of the Erotic Museums, quite a classy piece, wish I could have one for my front yard ;)

The Bananabar, again in the Red Light District...they supposedly have a quite amazing show in there, aptly named the Banana Show. I believe it involves girls, bananas, and a modest fee for the honor(?) of nibbling upon said fruits. I'll have to check it out next time I'm there.

Fascinating windows, though. That's what I was actually looking at in this shot! :)

And, one of the funniest-named coffeeshops I saw there. It's right near the big pub square. A'Dam is really quite the fun city to party in, even if your tastes don't run to hookers and ganja!

Onward to Bruxelles (Brussells)

Sometimes it can be hard when you're driving about and they spell the cities differently depending on what direction you are coming from!

But! Bruxelles is another interesting city. This was actually the place I took my first guided tour in Europe! I usually like to just meander my own way around and find the interesting things. IT SUCKED! The bus whizzed by everything, didn't stop anywhere so you could get out and look at the things we passed by (except the Atomium) and I was most disappointed. I know not to do it again, I guess you live and learn, no?

This is the Atomium. Built for the '58 World Expo, it is MUCH larger than it looks in this picture! I think I was still about 3 city blocks away from it when I took it, to give you a little reference. It symbolizes a crystallised molecule of iron by the scale of its atoms, magnified 150 thousand million times! One of the spheres has a restaraunt in it, and there are several other things in each of them. For more information you can go here: http://www.atomium.be

Mannekin Pis

This is one of the oddest of the famous places in Belgium. This lil fellow is the Mannekin Pis, and there seems to be several stories about what the lore behind the statue really is. It is often dressed for holidays, and I think has a few hundred outfits now that they exchange out! As I went in balmy June, he was just a wee naked boy, doing his thing. :)

The Basilicum, one of the largest in the "cool old building" catalogue. :) It was a beautiful walk along the park blocks from my hotel downtown up to this structure.

And the view of that long walk, from the steps of the Basilicum:

Burg Eltz

Not a too-terrible long drive from my area...an interesting castle nestled in the trees.

What, no nudity?

Just kidding, doll. It's good to have you back.

I wonder how many women around here wanted the penis statue for their own yard...

A thousand apologies, Adorable Little Manwhore! :)

I'm sure something in the archives could suffice...is this better?

i so want to live in that castle.

be perfectly appropriate!

I've always thought it would be great to travel like that. And the Netherlands would be a stop I would have to make.

Culture, culture.
