I know, I know...you're wondering "Where are the boobies?!" and I am going to disappoint again!

However, I know there are a few of you who like seeing where my travels take me. This weekend was Stubaital Glacier in Austria for a FABULOUS weekend of skiing! I remembered more than I thought I would after several years of not skiing and am not even too terribly sore after exerting myself like that for 2 days. Saunas and heated pools and footsoak baths work wonders!

A shot of the place we stayed:
I will give props to this place, the price was great and included breakfast/dinner and a full health area with above-mentioned saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms, heated indoor/outdoor pool and relaxation areas. It's called the Aktivhotel Donnerhof in Fulpmes, Austria if anyone is interested in vacationing there. The staff was top notch!

The first of several...

views from along the road up to the glacier. Of course the day we head out is the most beautiful of all days. Damn the weather gods! I must have sacrificed the wrong animal or something :D

It's amazing how one street can have such varied views! As you wound up to the glacier things just kept changing on every side. It sucks when you're the driver sometimes!

Arrgh, Lit needs to let me post bigger pictures! Lol...

Can you guess what this is? I know, I don't make it too hard when I name them in such a way...

This creek winds the entire way from the base of the glacier, playing back and forth with the road...

The base of the glacier. You start here with a long gondola ride to whichever lodge you are going to begin your snowy sporting from!

Breath taking pictures!  Thanks for sharing them with all of us.

Brad

:D :D :D

In the parking lot, looking back from whence we came...

I affectionately dubbed the originating gondola the "Gondola of Death" because of it's steep ascent/descent. It sort of slingshots the gondola foreward out of the boarding areas, making for a fun ride! Certainly not a fun time for those afraid of heights :D

Finally, a view to the side of said gondola of death ride. This was the last one before the camera was safely packed away in a locker before hitting the slopes! It would have been safe though, since the only time I bit the dust all weekend was when one of my friends took me out while out of control on his snowboard...bastage! :)

I hope you enjoyed this installment of Mae's Travels!

Drink Deep Lit :rose:

OMG, no boobies?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Whats the world coming to??? Hell, there's not even cleavage, or a mere mention of a money shot. Man, what a rip.

/sarcasm OFF

Damn, now I'm really fiending for an Alps trip. Damn you Mae!!!

Ah you bring back memories

I spent the best three years of my life in Bad Tolz, Germany. You should go there, some of the best sking in Bavaria, southeast of Munich. The main lift in Lengreiss goes up to the Tolzer Hutte, on top of the Mountain. The Garland is a world class slope and you can stay at the bottom of t he slope in a bunch of different gasthaus's. I went back in Dec 1999 and it was still the best place in the world IMHO... I wish I was there with you, I could show you all the best places to party in any of the towns. Hope you make it there, you would love Bavaria, I am sure of it.

Lovely pics as always. Your a braver soul than me. Something about a big guy barreling down the slopes just makes me shutter. I'd sit by the fire and wait for the sightseeing.
