For 5 days I've been using heat pads and pain gels on my arm cos that's where all the pain is, turns out I have a trapped nerve in my neck.

How long do these fuckers last?

What type of doctor diagnosed you? Necks are easy to misdiagnose.

The only remedy known to man is to stop posting for a while.

So, obviously...

...you're screwed.

Wish I knew something about em. Feel better, Facehugger.

If you gotta puke aim over there, would ya. Thanks.

"Doctor, is there anything we can do?"
:(

"Yes. We can chop her head off."

"Okay. Let's go with that."

My GP. Given me dihydrocodeine and ibuprofen. Also recommended exercises for my neck.

Do the neck exercises for sure. Take the meds, don't skip the ibuprofen-it lowers the inflammation. Take the meds on time, you want to get ahead of the pain. A medical massage might help, too.
We have a product called Tiger Balm that gets rubbed onto the skin-it's amazing. Try looking for it. Lay off the heat for awhile and switch to ice packs for 20 minutes at a time. Heat draws blood to the area which increase the inflammation. If it's not any better in a week I would maybe get a second opinion from a neurosurgeon. It should get better though.

Don't skip the exercises even though it will hurt like hell.

This is my advice, too. Except I'm going to dress up in a short nurses outfit, high fm heels and deliver the advice in person.

Feel better Foxy Mama. :)

Oh I'm doing exactly as I'm told. We have Tiger Balm here, I use it for headaches. I feel dead sick. Dunno if it's the pain or the dihydrocodeine.

Thanks for the advice Nursie.

Long time. Nerve injuries heal slowly, nerves wrapped in muscles heal even slower. A sciatica nerve injury (hip to leg) can shut you down completely for six weeks, with long term residual pain.

Remember RICE?
Rest
**Ice (not heat)
Compress
Elevate

+lots of ibuprofen (not Advil) and some booze.

Using an injured nerve just further excites the pain and increases healing time, so it's like a free pass to relax.
