Translator help please

I'm trying to put some Spanish words into my story and need a good translator site for this.

Also how does one put things like Tilds over letters? (I know it is a Ctrl Function but I don't remember which one.)

I need tranlations of words like Cabrone, (Tild over the o.)

Hi Cat,

Can't help with the translations (hablo un poco español)) but you can insert the tilde, if you are using Word, by clicking on "Insert", then "Symbol", then picking your properly accented letter from there. I'm certain there are key commands, too, but I don't know them.

I have no advice regarding translations, but as far as adding the tilde:
ñ = alt + 0241
õ = alt + 0245

Cabrõn means goat, and is used for bastard, cuckold, and mostly "Smartass"; the guy who wants to run everything. All those goaty things men do. It gets used for Punk, and pretty much every male epithet.
Is this Spanish Spanish, or Mexican Spanish? or Puerto Rican Spanish?
The mexican cussword of choice, is- "chinga" which means fuck. The Puerto Ricans use "pinche" a lot- means; miserable, Small, lousy. And I have no idea what they say in spain!

Another thing you can do (without opening Word) is to choose whatever funky characters you need from your Character Map. From Windows XP, it's
> Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map
From other versions of Windows, I think it's just under Accessories.

Anyway, it's just select, copy, and paste from there.

Cant is correct. The word is used in a derogatory manner, e.g., "old goat", "horny goat"; all depends on context and inflections.

I've been asked for help on this before. Here are a couple useful sites:

I also needs point out that slang and idioms vary, often considerably, among all Spanish speaking countries. You will have different words for the same thing in Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Columbian, Chile, Bolivia, etc. (I purposely left out Spain ).

Oh my aching effing head. Most of my friends are either Cuban, Mexico, or other Aouth American Countries. These are the people who's Spanish I would most likely use.

Well this story is certainly going to be a lot more interesting to write than I thought at first. Oh well, I am having fun with it. I'm only up to 32K words now on the rough draft. (and I'm not done with that yet.)

As for cabrón (isn't it with an accent marker?) - I always thought it to be mainly mexican? Never really heard it in Peru, or in Chile - in Chile instead they often said "cabro" or "cabra" (though this was a long time ago and chilean spanish seems to change a lot, there were loads of new words last time i went there), and mainly it just meant guy or girl, though in a slightly derogatory manner (nothing too strong though)...

It's a very old method, but it works in vBcode, Word, WordPerfect, and Rich Text. Use a number over 128 and you will get some kind of international character or typographic symbol, like the c in a circle for copyright or the TM thing. Hold down ALT and do a number over 128 in the keypad. Experiment. It usually will work.

It's a big ol' chart-like thing. Double-click on the character you need, then hit the Copy button at the lower-right of the window and paste it where you need it.
