forgive me if I am beind here but I just discovered that Open Office also has a "track changes" function!

Edit--changes--record, etc.

So, are you saying you use Open Office instead of MS Word?

Congrats on the discovery. :)

I recently subscribed to Office 365 when I upgraded my pc. I figured it was cheaper than buying MS Office as stand alone apps. The only thing I don't like about Word 2013 is that the comment and edit balloons in the Track Changes markup area aren't as clearly defined as they were in Word 2007. Comments aren't colored and there are no borders around balloons.

When editing, I also find it handy to compare different versions of documents using:
Edit -> Compare Document Then, the Edit -> Changes -> Show really comes in handy.

These features may be in Microsoft Word, but I haven't used it in several years. Before I switched to LibreOffice, I spent a couple thousand dollars upgrading one Microsoft product or another. Finally, I got tired paying for the updates and began using Linux. ;)
