Toy Suggestions for a Virgin

Hey!
So I am a virgin and I've always had a little curiousity about using toys and vibrators in masturbation. I normally use my fingers, and I'm looking to try something a little different. The thing is, my hymen is still intact so I haven't used penetration. I've been looking in the sexual wellness section of Amazon and well, many of the vibrators on there look very.... penetrating!! Which isn't quite what I'm looking for.
Any suggestions? Not looking to spend a lot, but quality of course would be great.

Thanks!

The Wifes Favorites:

1. Water Dancer (1 AA Battery & Water Proof) :) Got 3 - Home, Travel & Car!

2. Mystic Wand Waterproof Vibrator (2 AA Batteries & Water Resistant) :)

3. Hitachi Magic Wand ( Powerful )

I used to work at a sex shop and the mantra was "there is no best toy- only the customer can decide which is best for them." :cattail: And there is no limit to your options- any vibrator can be used for clitoral stimulation, whether it's phallic or not.

Things you might want to consider- do you want it to be waterproof? is noise an issue? what sort of material appeals to you? hard or soft, smooth or textured? do you want strong or gentle vibrations? what's your budget?

Bullet vibes are cheap (under $10-$20) and usually pretty strong, and extremely popular.

Anything hard plastic is usually stronger and slightly noisier.

Lelo has really nice handheld hard plastic and silicone vibes, some shaped to fit nicely into your hand (almost like a computer mouse), well designed for external stimulation ($60-$100)

Pocket Rocket type vibrators are popular too- they can range in price from $10-$100, depending on the brand name.

Sex toys are not priced according to quality of the motor, etc. They are priced according to packaging/brand name/marketing appeal. Cheapies can last a long time and something that costs over $150 can conk out after a few weeks.

Look for a multi-speed vibe that's good for clit stimulation. If you're going the battery route, I'd suggest one that takes at least 3 AA batteries so the power is there if you want it (there's little worse than a wimpy vibe!). The shape of the vibe is also important: ones that are flat or rounded will provide more diffuse stimulation, whereas a thinner/pointier shape will provide more intense stimulation.

A good non-penetrative choice is a multi-speed bullet/egg, and you can add a silicone rabbit sleeve to it for additional stimulation. In total, you'll spend around or less than $20, which is a pretty good budget for a first toy if you don't have something specific in mind.

Amazon may or may not be the best deal for any given toy. Find a couple you like, then shop around for the total price, including shipping.

Is it important for you to keep your hymen intact for cultural reasons or something? If not, now would be a good time to start stretching it with plenty of lube and gentle penetration so your first experiences with intercourse will be far less likely to be painful (assuming the other necessary factors are present).

Imo...

my hitachi magic wand is by far the best non-penetrative toy I have.

yup, it's a little pricey, yup, it's electric so you need to get used to the cord and finally yup, it's noisy.

But DANG! nothing else can get me from zero to a hundred in under 3 minutes flat...each and every time.

I can't imagine coming to Lit *without* it next to me anymore :)

HTH!

Thank you for the suggestions. I wasn't exactly looking for the "best" type of toy, just some suggestions.
It is not for cultural or spiritual reasons and I'm sure it would be a good idea to start trying to stretch it out. I think part of it is being a little fearful of the pain, even with gentle penetration. However, it's something to consider.

Again, thanks for the suggestions! I'm choosing to try a pocket rocket (just in case anyone was curious) :)

If you look around the home, you'll also find many items that can help while you masturbate as well..:rose:

I would strongly recommend the pocket rocket. A partner of mine loves hers even though she is used to penetration. She liked to use it while we were having sex. She even uses it on me from time to time....hmmm

Have you tried it yet?

I did try it today... I have few words to describe how it was... I will however say that I'm wondering how I spent so much time using only fingers. Money well spent!! :)

With arousal, plenty of lube and time, you have nothing to fear by gently penetrating yourself and working on stretching your hymen. With a well-lubed finger, softly massage your vaginal opening and hymen. When you're comfortable with that, use a little more pressure on the hymen and maybe rub your finger back and forth along the top edge of it. Aim for pressure and light stretching, not any kind of pain. Your body will let you know if you're going too fast or whatever.

Organic, virgin (unprocessed) coconut oil is a good choice for this kind of activity because it's so good for the skin and has natural antibacterial properties. You can get a 16oz jar at many natural foods stores and online for like $10, and it should last you a while. Some OBGYNs also recommend olive oil, but that has a scent that many find unpleasant/not-so-sexy. Avoid using other types of oil in that area.

Once you find a massage/gentle stretching procedure that works well for you, add it to your routine once or twice a day. When you're totally comfortable with that, you could try slow, gentle penetration with a finger. When you're good with that, you might try using small tampons during your period (I'd suggest the kind with a plastic applicator and an appropriate lube, if necessary). Then just work up from there.

This type of massage and stretching is worth getting comfortable with for sex, but also if you ever plan to have a child. If/when that time comes, you'll want to work on stretching again so your vaginal opening and perineum become more flexible and you'll be less likely to have complications in that area during a vaginal delivery.

But again, if you feel your hymen may be too large or thick (and/or very gentle stretching and massage over time is painful), you definitely need to get the opinion of a good doctor to see if you may need a simple procedure (done in the office with anesthetic) to take care of it. Then you can masturbate and have sex without worrying about severe pain, tearing or bleeding.
