I was wondering what some good sites would be to buy toys from... And by good sites I mean ones that do not sell your info off to other companies or send you things in the mail, since I live with people and getting a magazine for sex toys would not be fun to explain...

thanks everyone

I've never had a problem with any of the toy retailers I've bought from sharing my info, invading my privacy or being indiscreet. I don't know of any seller that doesn't use plain packaging and bill with a nondescript name (e.g. ABS Enterprises vs. BigDildos Inc.). Even sellers on eBay do these things.

So, I'd suggest checking out different retailers, seeing which one has the best deal (for price+shipping and any extras, like guarantees) and then reading their privacy policies before you buy. Make sure you op out of any kind of contact you don't want when you register/order, too. That's what I do, and I've never had a problem.

thanks for the info Erika... Just have never ordered anything yet and wasn't sure if you could say something so they couldn't contact you and what not.

that was one of the sites i but under the "bad" list.. since they sell out your info and it says they send you things under their privacy policy... was wondering if there where other site out there that i missed... I shall look around some more.

If you read A&E's privacy policy, you'll see that you can easily opt out of having your information shared and receiving mailings. You just email them and tell them not to share your info or send you anything, via postal mail or email.

While it's not ideal, the benefit of buying from this specific retailer is the 90-day guarantee they put on their toys. No one else allows you to return toys because you just didn't like them or something went wrong within three months.

That said, there are less expensive retailers out there. Ebay, Amazon, Nitetimetoys and many others consistently have good deals and won't send you anything.

Well, that's the only site I've ever had send me anything in the mail. A few other sites have sent me an email or two, but not very often. We're talking once or twice in 6 months. AdamandEve isn't a bad site, though, and even if they do send you something, it'll come in plain packaging just like the toys/videos/lube or whatever you order.

The site i use most sends the products in plain packaging, the bills discreet and the only catalogue they send you through the post they send IN the package of your purchase. Dunno if it's on your bad list or not, or even whether they deliver outside the UK if you are outside the uk but I use:

Yeah, I can't help but have been wondering about this. How does Amazon send things? I've bought books off them, but it's been a while... are they one of the ones that list everything on the outside? I know I don't get anything more than emails from the books I got--someone gifted me a card when I turned 14, so, y'know, I had to use it.

But now I actually have the ability to buy things online. Not that I would... so far I've been doing fine with my built in toys. But I have wondered a bit about 'non toy stores selling toys'... hey, if I could kill two birds with one stone... and Amazon came to mind. (vibrator AND new Terry Prachett books? Win win! :D)

Not that I would. I am a stingy Scrooge who doesn't spend money on anything unless it's chocolate. :D

Amazon sells some adult products itself, and others through outside/partner retailers.

I've only bought things, like the Wahl massager, through Amazon directly because orders over $25 qualify for free shipping, which usually makes them a pretty good deal. Amazon ships everything in the same, plain, Amazon.com boxes/packaging, whether it's a toy or books or something else, and doesn't send stuff in the mail, so there's no need to worry about someone finding out what you bought unless they open your package.

Different Amazon partner stores have different policies and shipping rates, so if you go through them, you'll want to check those out. I've seen many clearly say they respect privacy and ship in plain packaging as well, though.

Reputable eBay sellers do things the same way as Amazon and most other toy sites.

I buy online just because I have a far better selection and can get a better deal every time, even with shipping. Places like Babeland are great stores, but the fact is, I can usually buy the same stuff for about half the price online. I simply watch the combined charges, privacy policies and retailer reviews carefully before purchasing, and I've never had a problem, even on eBay.

Great store.
Packaging is discrete. Items are precisely what they say they will be. Free goodies occassionally occompany your order. :)

I've been really pleased with this one.

I looked out of curiosity, then googled the names of several of the toys and they inflated the "List Price" significantly on everything I googled. It looks like the "Your Price" is actually the list price at most other stores.

For instance:
Silicone Crystal Butt Plug

Sub Shop

List/Regular Price: $17.95
Your/Sale Price: $14.95

vs.

Vitacost
List/Regular Price: $12.49
Our/Sale Price: $9.38

Which is a savings of $5.57 on just this one item.

Similarly, Sub Shop prices the Hitachi Magic Wand (no attachments):
List Price: $80
Your Price: $70

Nitetimetoys.com (which has been around for a long time) has the Magic Wand PLUS two attachments for $40. And, if you spend at least $50 there, you get free shipping on your order.

Purchased separately, the attachments are usually about $8 each, so on this one item, one would be saving about $46 by buying at NiteTimeToys instead of Sub Shop! Add in the shipping deal at NTT (the Hitachi is usually about $10 to ship), and the savings go up.

Anyway, I'm sure Sub Shop is a fine store as you say, but people who are budget-conscious like me would be very wise to comparison shop because it appears many of the toys are available at many other fine stores for far less. For BDSM-specific gear from a reputable retailer, I've noticed JT's Stockroom usually has pretty good prices.
