Toy Marketing--Boys vs. Girls: An Expert's Opinion

She's a clever little lady. She displays a sense of logic that eludes most adults. :D

Yeah, but what's that she has in her hand while she rants? :D
Hey! She says that girls like the superheroes AND the princesses. She doesn't say that girls don't like dolls. Just that she's dismayed by the fact that pink princesses are the only options the "girl" aisle at the toy store offers

And man, do I wish I 'd been able to articulate as much to my parents when I was that age! I was into princesses, absolutely. Sparkly ballet costumes with frilly skirts and glitter...but I hated pink (still do, but I've made my peace with some shades), and I really resented that I couldn't *also* have the cool boys toys. I wanted to run around in my ballerina outfit while playing with superhero action figures. :cattail: But my mom more or less talked me into collecting dolls instead. And everything was pink or red :p

Now that's sad. My daughter and son both learned to handle a sewing machine and to lay block. He's a better cook than she is and she's a management type and he's a geek/cabinet maker. Things can be better now, but the last place to figure that out will Toys R Us!

I walked into the "Girls" aisle in a chain toy store last week-- I thought my eyes would start bleeding.

That's why it's better to do your kid shopping in the craft department. They learn survival life skills, have fun doing it and don't get overdosed with PINK!!!
