Just how do you Americans see the role of Tony Blair in the current war.Is he an ambassador for the U.S.A or a pain in the arse,sorry...ass

ok ... so how cum you Brits haven't asked us Canadians what we think of Tony Blair?

ass-et wise i mean ... lol ;)

I know his name, I know who he is, I know his job description.

I believe I am the only American alive that refuses to watch the news. Nor have I read a newspaper since September 12th.

In a small way I feel I'm doing my part for the world.

... well ok then ...

i guess i might have to start my own
"Tony Blair: Canuk opinion" thread ...

too bad we couldn't have combined ...

but being Canadian, I can say one thing absolutely for damn sure ... and we are so lucky to have this ... and i bet we are the only country in the world to say this ...

we are right at home with either British or U.S. ... we can go from one spelling to another ... we are familiar with both your nuances (sp?) and your slang terms ... in fact our slang terms are a combination of both country's ...

hey i better write that in my other thread about tomatos ...

Way to go isabella... Pramot us more :)

Canada rocks hehe

and i refuse to answer about tony blair till you start your thread lol

Well,

I watched his speech with President Bush at his side a day or two after the WTC incident, slaughter, massacre, whatever you call it...

And I must say that I thought he was very charismatic, sexy, and by golly, I liked him.

Then a few days ago, I watched him addressing the UN. And I thought he was very charismatic, sexy, and by golly, I liked him.
So much so in fact that I said outloud, near other people, mind you, "He is Hot!"

Everyone looked at me funny.

Am I the only woman around here who thinks Mr. Blair is hot?

TTFN,
Rhandie

but if you want the canuck scoop ... stay tuned on the boards ... lol ...

ok Fly ... you convinced me baby ... ;)

I'm a newly converted Blair Fan

Before this terrorism situation I saw Blair as a shifty, Clintonesque kind of a pol. He probably still is, but he's definitely passionate about his support for America. He's very articulate, an excellent public speaker, and seems very intelligent. I'm not sure how lucky you Brits are to have him, but I consider the US very lucky to have him as your PM. His support for America (as well as that of British people as a whole) is very welcome during these difficult times.

Mr. Blair attended a play I had a small part in once. The actors got to meet him at the reception and he was such a charming person, and yes, devastatingly sexy. I have such a thing for Oxford men....meeeoooowww.

I think that as a politician, he really cares about people and that is rare.

tony blair

i think george w. summed it up best when he said the usa has no closer friend and ally than great britan...and im glad he said it because he is absolutley right.

god save the queen

I voted for his party the first time...

because one of his parliamentary candidates helped a friend of mine out in a time of stress...

I voted for him the second time because I thought he was doing a great job...

But I never in a month of Sundays expected to see him turn into a war leader of such stature...

You can say that again....

Oh well. His personal manner puts me off, because he's a bit of a cheerleader. He definitely gets a kick out of war, as he did during Kosovo. But his support of Clinton was very effective, and probably pushed the US into being more appropriately aggressive (recall that US support for the bombing of Serbia was not so solid). I think he clearly relishes the great world issues far more than worrying about fuel blockades or the wretched London tube.

And he's a damned sight better than the last several decades of PMs.

Off topic, but I must say that in my experience riding public transportation, the Tube is truly great. Sure, its packed beyond belief, but its convenient, and you can pretty much get wherever the hell you need to.

tony blair is sucking in the americans. george w bush has said this is a war against all terrorists, so tony figures if he backs the americans against osama binladin, the americans will have to support him against the ira. if your going to bomb countries that harbor terrorists then tony might decide to bomb dublin and then what are the yanks going to do.

I'd be surprised -

What a cowardly troll to leave your name off that one. Unlike Major, who needed support from Powell and Paisley, Blair actually wants and can afford to try to get genuine peace in Ulster. That's one of the reasons I like him. I think he knows the Catholics deserve a fair deal, and that there's no reason not to have one, except that there're still too many reactionary, militant Loyalists, whoi are his real problem.

Nick: When I was last in London (September, 1999), they were
closing stations by the dozens for emergency escalator repairs. Lots of other things were going wrong, too. Every day I was there, I was forced to take at least one taxi (often after ENTERING the system, having paid) because so many things broke down. It's such a mess that the new mayor of London hired Kiley who ran the NYC subways to come over and help fix it, but Blair just crushed him and his plans.

Re: shadowsource

I was there back in June and everything seemed fine to me. I think there was someone fainting at Canada Water, but thats about it (in fact, in every city I rode the underground/metro/subway/whatever the fuck you wanna call it) over in Europe during my trip someone fainted. I'm going back for 6 months on a Blue Card visa in November, I'll let you know if its still ok.

Sorry - that's what people do here if they're chickenshit about using their name. So why do you think Blair hasn't already dropped the "peace process" game if you think he's so eager to do so?
