Blair said he thought Bush's relations with individual European leaders were good and many of the continent's anti-American voices were just sour grapes.

"I think they are to do with jealousy about America's position, worry about American culture dominating European culture and also because America is the world super-power and anyone who is pre-eminent always takes a bit of flak," he said.

He's just an Englishman!

The governor of America's 51st state. :)

We have a lot of states

We got 50 stars on the flag, but we are trying to take over the world.

It's about money. It's about power.

That's America!

Oops!

I forgot: it's also about freedom, about the flag, about television, about Microsoft and Intel, and about white people.

What WriterDom has omitted to say is...

that an undisclosed source has already remarked that Tony Blair is considering resigning the premiership to take up a new European post as a senior roving ambassador.

Because of his success in acting as Bush's lapdog when the American was a prisoner in his own homeland, Blair has built up considerable authority and an enviable position as a man who can achieve positive results on a global scale.

In other words the complete opposite of President Bush and not an outcome the American intended.

As a result of this rise to international stardom the new European post, which will make him the most powerful diplomat in the Western world, has been offered on the understanding that he temporarily smooths the rising tension between Europe and America.

Unwilling to come out with a full endorsement of Bush's relations with Europe as a whole, even Blair will not sell his principles completely down the river and after all Europe wants room to manouvre when relations finally do collapse, he modified his speech by stressing 'individual European leaders', knowing full well that Bush, not fully understanding that Europe is rapidly becoming one country, is incapable of recognising the intended nuance.

Reports have apparantly been received from Moscow that Bush is extremely pleased that he is almost as popular here than at home. He has obviously been lulled into the intended false sense of security.

At this stage I have nothing to say...

The words tongue in cheek come to mind.

Europe may become one country

When global warming reduces it to the size of Hawaii.

Probably true.
As long as Tony Blair is Prime Minister. His wife cannot climb any higher up her career ladder, towards her goal, of becoming a senior Law Lord.
We can't have the head of the judiciary and the head of the legislature sharing the same bed! there might be rumours of conflict of interest.
What other job would interest Tony, apart from a senior European role?

Yes. Those around him have already started the press leaks...
