The eight days of the festival of Chanukah begin tonight, so here I am kindling the first candle in the Menorah.

Whether you are Jewish or not - we all seek the light, and Chanukah is the festival of lights. We all have much to be thankful for. I take my obligation to illuminate my little corner of the universe seriously.

Light a candle with me? For whatever reason you are thankful, or just to add a little warmth to your soul.

Shalom

Must be some similar frame of reference here because last night (in our house and when my parents were living) was the night to put up christmas decorations. 12 days before (25th being the 12 day and the first day) and then take them down 12 days after.

Interestingly (though my father was catholic and my mother church of England) I always believed that the first day of the week was Sunday (which would seem to make Saturday the 7th) Oy, such a mix-up.
