So I am thinking about removing my tongue ring , the job which I will be doing soon does not allow any sort of piercings and I would like to make a good impression with this job , so hence thinking about removing my tongue ring.

My question is ... I just unscrew the bottom and take it off ?!

Should I know some thing before I remove it ...

Any advice , thank you in advance... :)

Rinse your mouth with mouthwash. Wash your hands with disinfectant soap.

Use tissue to hold the top (or bottom, whichever) and just unscrew.

Rinse again with mouthwash. It'll be healed in 4 hours.

you can also get little plastic (usually clear or pink) "space savers" that you can barely see ... if you want to keep your piercing/lifestyle and have a job. We would use them all through high school, I have a friend in a very highly blah blah blah that has one and to this day no one knows. (they're also called retainers.)

have you considered using a tongue retainer?
it's a smaller, plastic clear bar that you can wear in your piercing that almost no-one will see.

there's no drama taking your tongue bar out, and it will heal quite quickly, depending on how long you've had it in for.
just be aware that your tongue will need to relearn some letters when you speak, and this could take a day or so.

if you're having trouble removing the balls from the bar, try holding onto it while wearing latex gloves - they'll give you a much better grip.

good luck with your new job.

Thank you ladies , your advice has been very helpful... and I had no idea about these retainer things... I want one of those because I am not ready to let go of my piercing just yet.

Where can I get a tongue retainer ... at the piercing place ?!

warrior queen,

I know you are in the business so here is a question for you.

How long will it take to seal once I take it out for good ?

And , thanks... looking forward to the new little job. :)

most reputable piercing places will carry retainers - it's a good idea to get a couple (some types, the ones with the rubber o-ring on the bottom, tend to come loose, so check and see if they have just the flesh-coloured balls to screw on to your bar also).

i sell retainers for AUD$5, and the balls for AUD$6 (between US$3-4).

Yes indeed, wherever you got pierced (assuming it was a reputable shop) would have retainers. You can also sometimes purchase them from places like Hot Topic and even online.

Etoile & warrior queen,

Thank you , I will make sure to go back to my piercing guy and ask him ... he was ever so nice to me when I got my tongue pierced and I am sure he will be able to help me with these tongue retainers...

Gracias , chicas...
