Bio-

Name: Sean Flanagan
Age: 33
Nationality: American of Irish stock
Birthplace: New York City
Residence: Carson City, Nevada
Profession: Newspaper/Magazine Publisher/Owner/Tycoon/Editor (the most powerful businessman in the state capital and one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the state and region); prize possession is the Nevada Independent, a progressive and very modern (for the era) political and business weekly magazine.
Politics: Reformist/Progressive Democrat (duh, he's an Irishman in 1900); tries to favor balanced fair treatment of the rights of both business and labor, with a dose of governmental regulation. Anti-Marxist, of course. Anti-Temperance/Prohibition, because he likes his booze. Harbors secretly advanced and enlightened views such as free love and tendencies such as sado-masochism and bondage (probably illegal and certainly dangerous for the time, if exposed). Lukewarm on woman's suffrage, but only because of the liquor issue (since many suffragettes are so staunchly pro-Temperance). Strong supporter of civil rights and immigrants' rights.
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 215 lbs.
Hair Color: Dark Brown
Eye Color: Coal-Black
Skin Tone: Pale (and this despite years in the Nevada sun)
Build: heavy to medium
Marital Status: lifelong bachelor (triggering gossip about his sexuality)
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual (though, of course, that's not a familiar term at the time); highly lecherous and sadistic in sexual habits with both men and women.
Facial Hair: mustache only
Religion: Catholic (lapsed)

IC:

June 21, 1900-

Flanagan is vacationing in Ontario, Canada, which, of course, means that he plans to seduce and dominate a lady or two during his stay (and maybe a handsome young man too). He cuts a distinctive figure, in his highly tailored suits, his curly brown hair (he kepts it as short and orderly as he can, but it's still a bit unruly), his freckles, his mustache, and his cigars. He wears no glasses, since he has excellent vision. He doesn't bother hiding his flirtation with women....just what he does with them behind closed doors (it would be bad for business)....

....and he has already spotted his first victim.....just outside the hotel tavern...

Bio- Elizabeth Sanderson. 30 year old widow. Her husband had left her a widows pension that made her few hours a week of work for one of the smaller firms in this middle class nieghborhood an option not a requirement.

Her red hair was in bun so as not to show its near waiste legth. or the fact that being braided all day would leave it very curly. Her eyes were a pale blue , while she stood 5 ft 2 and was no longer a perfect hour glass but still slim with c cup.

Liz hd walked home by this tavern every day for the last 3 years. From time to time a gentle man would strike up a conversation with her as she walked but it normally did not go far once they realized that she was not a street walker or 18 to 20 years old any longer.

ic-Liz walks by the same way home she does every day and knows that the tavern is part of a hotel but no one has ever done her any harm there.

She is in no rush so calmly walks toward the market on the corner.

Sean Flanagan

Sean saw the lovely, but matronly woman walk by the tavern toward the market....and had to at least approach her....he was very curious...and she might prove a willing "victim"....since she didn't appear to have a husband or intended gentleman caller....

...."Top of the morning to you, ma'am," he spoke, being as polite as he can be at the moment....the scary, kinky stuff could wait a bit....

Liz was surprised when a gentleman approached her. He seem to know she was no child.

She nodded properly. "Good day, sir." She was never sure what to say after that. "I was on my way to the market. What are you planning to do this fine day?"

"Well, actually, I'm on what you Canadians call 'holiday'. I'm just here for rest and recreation. And the company of lovely women such as yourself. Do you mind if I escort you to the market?" Sean proposes.

She smiled, "while an escort in not needed, I would accept your company, though. I am the widow Sanderson. I often walk these streets alone they are quite safe."

Then she waited for his actions / reply.

Sean

"That's reassuring to hear. Both that they are safe and that you welcome my company, Mrs. Sanderson. I'm Sean Flanagan, of Carson City, Nevada. Pleased to meet you, ma'am," he says as he takes her arm in his.

She walked into the market with Mr. Flanagan on her arm. "I was on my way in here to decide what I would be eating this evening. Would you like to join me." SHe knew she was being forward but it had been a long time since her last evening with a gentleman.

She smiled shyly at him.

"Well, my dear Mrs. Sanderson, that sounds like an invitation! It would be very rude, not to mention silly, of me not to accept such a gracious offer from a lovely lady such as yourself. In that case, I accept your proposal and will do my best to keep you pleasant company for the evening. Very charmed, by the way. Just show me the way there, if you please, since I am a stranger to this town," Sean smiled at her, then kissed her hand. While he was certainly dominant in his private life, a courteous manner never hurt him with the ladies in public. Especially since something in his smile always suggested a deeper, hidden agenda. Something that lured the ladies to him the way that a spider's web lured flies.

She blushed a bit at his words and actions, "yes, Mr. Flanagan, I do believe that was an invatation. I was not sure, I have not issued one in years. Then lets continue to the market and find something for a nice diner and we can talk while shoping as well as while I cook, if you dont mind sitting in the kitchen?"

While his smile was very disarming it was also gentlemanly. It had been years since a man had paid any attension to her.

As they walked through the market she asked him about his food likes and dislikes so they could both enjoy the meal.

It was not hard to find a suitable food and soon they were approaching the check out.

"Well, that was rather nice, my dear Mrs. Sanderson. You're a very kind hostess. Would you like my arm to hold while we walk to your house?" Sean smiled at her pleasantly, as they paid the clerk at the newfangled register/counting machine. It was an improvement over simple payments and paper records.

As they walked out of the market she kept her arm on his. She walked on to her house with out concern.

She unlocked the door and led him to the kitchen. Where she went to work cooking.

She asked him about his work and his family along with other topics of mutual interest.

((ooc- im not sure how detailed you want small talk. I will follow your lead in that))

(OOC: thank you....sounds as if we shall do well together here too)

"Well, I'm of Irish stock. My grandparents left Armagh during the Potato Famine and two of my uncles died in the War Between The States. One during the draft riots and the other at Shiloh. I was born in New York City, the eldest of 7 children. I own a magazine, a newspaper, and a small, but growing publishing company based in Nevada. I'm a progressive Democrat and a somewhat lackluster Roman Catholic. I've never married and I have no children, at least none to my knowledge. I'm worth roughly $17,000,000 in total assets, at my last count. And, as you can see, I'm a bit too fond of tobacco for my own good. I do better about controlling my liquor intake than cigars, in fact," Sean informed her.

"Now, how about the lovely Mrs. Elizabeth Sanderson? I can see how you landed a husband. I just don't know how you have managed to ward off suitors for remarriage," Sean added with a wink.

She blushed a bit at the compliment. "I was born and raised here, my parents are of middle class. They worked hard and were glade that I married an equal. If he would have died in the first three or four years of our marriage I might have had offers of a second marriage but I was over 25 when he died and here there is seldom a offer of marriage to an old woman of over 25."

She turned back to their meal for a minute. She smiled at him. "I accept that I have many yaers alone here. To have good company for an evening or two once in while is really the best I can hope for."

"if you had a taste for brandy I could help you, I still have 3/4 of bottle here. I hve no experience with cigars, though."

Soon their meal is ready, "I hope you dont mind eating here, im afraid that the dining room has been unused for some time and is rather dusty."

She goes to the cupboard and brings out two place settings.

"Damn, I am 33, and I hadn't realized that it was so rough on women of about my age. Perhaps because I have, I freely admit, been too busy seeking wealth and power to settle down to a wife. That and I'm a bit less conventional than most acceptable husbands. But if I were to seek out a wife, I know where to look now. Tompkins, Ontario, where there are evidently a great number of lovely widows being overlooked or neglected by their countrymen. One in particular would strike my fancy, if that's not being too forward.

"Yes, I would appreciate some brandy. And I wouldn't expect that most respectable, middle-class Canadian women would have a great surplus of tobacco. And thank you very much for dinner. If you ever decide that you want a husband and can tolerate one who is, for lack of a better word, unorthodox and even a bit of a free-thinker, well, you know where to turn. The real trouble is that while I am now at a point where I can settle down more easily and enjoy the company of a wife, I am not certain that I can be a faithful or easily domesticated husband. Thus I disqualify myself with most possible brides," Sean explained with a smile intended to charm.

Liz blushed deeply at his compliment. She went to the cupboard and got the brandy snifter and bottle of brandy.

She served them the meal. "honestly Mr Flanagan only a young girl would expect a man to be easily domesticateable. After almost ten years of marriage even my husband could not have been called fully domesticated."

As she sat down she added, "one does not reach the level you have in the world thinking as others do. If you had I would be confused."

She found him to be very charming, she had not felt this way since her husbnd had courted her. SHe knew she was being silly but she still hoped maybe he was think about getting to know her better.

She knew she needed to add some thing. "while I dont know you well I dont see any thing that would be a disqualification."

"Well, you certainly know how to increase a man's interest in you. Not only are you a great hostess, cook, and conversant, but you are even quite tolerant and understanding of a man's quirks. And to think that I have looked in vain for such considerate women in other parts of the world, when all I needed was to come here for one. If you can see your way to accepting what might seem an extremely forward proposal, and not being too shocked at some of my eccentric conduct in the bouidoir, you won't be disappointed with my efforts to satisfy your most intimate physical needs. I would, of course, be willing to defer such activities until after matrimony, but then again, there's no virginity at stake now, and if you disliked the acts in question, escaping my attentions would be easier before marriage than afterward. Either way, if you should prove so accommodating as to agree to such a proposal, I very much doubt that you will actually find anything not to your taste....once you should experiment with it...forgive my forwardness in such a matter. I suppose that many respectable women of your class would show me the door at this point for my sheer impudence in suggesting what they would deem lewd conduct. I know that this is sudden, and that we don't know each other well, but I get the distinct impression that we are both lonely people, and will find each other quite compatible," Sean finally proposed.

"In sum, I am offering you a marriage, and not one of the conventional sort. Admittedly, I would still assume command of the household, but my expression of such command would be reflected less in mundane and more in pleasurable ways. I very much doubt that you would regret becoming Elizabeth Flanagan. And, while I'm not the best of Catholics, I tend to share the Church's distinct dislike of divorce, which I deem a last resort, so your risk of ever being discarded as some wives unfortunately is even further reduced," he added with a smile.

Liz was extremely shocked at his words. As the true meaning beind them sank in she blushed.

"you are very forward. From what you say I assumed you are experienced. It will not surprise you that I have only been with my husband." She turned part way from him blushing deeply.

She bit her lip for a minute. "With no purity issues it would be logical to know if we are compatible in that area. You sound like you will be very different from what I have experienced."

She finally looked at him, "I must admit this is the most intrigueing proposal I have ever received. How long would it seem best to wait to see if we are going to be .." she paused unsure of a word, "compatable". Her blush rose again.

Sean

"Well, I imagine that we should finish supper, at least. And perhaps have a bit more of your fine brandy here. A woman with a traditional, middle-class upbringing and the inhibitions associated with that could probably use some liquid courage....I don't know how it is for Protestants, but I imagine that you have some of the same qualms to soothe....but, if you don't mind, since I'm here, it would be better for us to experiment with such things tonight, after supper, in the privacy of your bouidoir.....such things would be better for discretion than, say, the use of my hotel suite....if that's not too much of an imposition....while I, of course, won't judge you for spending the night in a bachelor's room, your neighbors might be more sanctimonious and more eager to cast the first stone, our Lord's teachings about having no sin to the contrary notwithstanding," Sean spoke as carefully as possible....knowing that she was presumably not accustomed to salty language....he was asking a lot of the woman to begin with.....fornication, remarriage, deviant sex....even overlooking future indiscretions on his part....no sense in profanity....yet...it might scare away a woman whose social scene no doubt mostly consisted of women's missionary tea circles.....

"There is one matter. If you agree to this.....you'll have to submit to my whims....all of them, at least once....give them a fair chance....and, since your inhibitions are probably great, this will actually be easier on you....it will reduce any feelings of guilt that you might experience....if you would consent to let me ....bind you....for the evening....I promise, if you don't enjoy yourself, I will know that we aren't compatible....I'll apologize for wasting your time....and not impose on your hospitality anymore....and you can return to your respectable, middle-class life here....does that sound like a reasonable proposition? One, decadent night of debauchery, for once in your life, trusting a Papist like me with full control of your body....for our mutual pleasure.....and you'll never have to wonder about it again....whatever the outcome...you'll know if you like it or not...I won't drag you, kicking and screaming, down my primrose path with me.....but I just ask you to trust me and try it for one evening....I very much doubt that you'll regret....I'm wagering that you're curious....and would enjoy yourself....and the ropes would actually relax your inhibitions and on some level, absolve of feelings of responsibility for your enjoyment of such deviant acts as I have in mind," Sean encouraged her.....with a grin....

....he was used to being more commanding.....but that was Nevada....the Wild West...still wild, at times....this was Victorian Canada....Protestant, respectable, middle-class.....and this was a Protestant widow.....the very essence of respectability....but he was taking a bet....a calculated risk, that beneath her prim and proper, bourgeois facade.....there was a sensual and curious woman, ready and eager for the right opportunity to act on her primal instincts.....he was relying on Darwin's highly controversial theory of evolution here.....that the animal nature of Man (and, more to the point here, Woman) still existed.....and would predominate, given half a chance....he was even gambling that she was a submissive at heart....of course, if he gambled wrong....he'd be out the door, but it was a chance worth taking....so far, she had accepted and even encouraged his most forward advances.....would she welcome this too.....God, he hoped so.....saints forgive him....but he really wanted to seduce and dominate her....and to marry her too...still, he had to be more delicate about the matter....this was a challenge for his seductive powers....he rarely went after respectable matrons.....but this one didn't seem to discourage him like most did....

Liz listened carefully to what he had to say. By time he was done she was blushed deeply.

"You are right about it being more private here and much less possibility of back lash on me if this does not work out. I admit that what you want to do this evening is very scary."

She slowly reached out for the extra brandy snifter, knowing there would be no way that she would even be able to try with out the liquid courage as he called it. She poured a good portion. She slowly brought the glass to her lips. The sip was hard to get down. Then she took another deep breath. Then another sip of brandy.

She knew it would take some minutes to drink this but it was the only chance of this working.

"Didn't mean to frighten you too much, my dear. I simply wanted to give you fair warning, in case you chose to give it a chance. I hope, however, that this drinking is a sign that you're summoning up the courage to trust me with your body. I would regard such as not only a pleasure but an honor...," Sean smiled at her, drinking a bit more of his own, hoping to make her feel less conspicuous...

Liz smiled shyly. "you are right that is want I am trying to do."

She added slowly, " while i find your words scary I also find that I can respect your honesty. I have always believed in honesty."

She took another sip. She had never been one for strong spirits.

She felt he was trying to be helpfull to her and she smiled as she realized that. She knew that was no chance of etingmore tonight.

She spoke softly, "Would you mind going to sit on the davan, in the salon a while? Giving me a chance to drink this."

"Sure thing, my dear Elizabeth. I'll wait for you to finish. You must be a bit nervous, I take it. You'll need a chance to compose yourself," Sean agreed amiably, seeing the moment of truth closer than ever.

She stood up and extrended her hand, "shall we go." Then they walked into the salon and she sat down on the davan. Knowing that there was plenty of room for him to sit as well.

"This is a very nice divan, Liz. You don't mind if I call you 'Liz', I hope. Or is 'Betty', 'Beth', or 'Lizzie' preferable?" Sean tried to help calm her nerves with some idle chitchat while she drank. He'd bet more than even money that her usual strongest spirit was currant wine, though he couldn't prove it. That she drank a bit of brandy now was understandable.....she was about to do just about everything that her mother might have taught her was wrong in the boudoir with her husband, let alone a foreign bachelor who also happened to be a Papist. Anyone would be nervous in such a situation. That she agreed was probably due to curiosity and excitement over the prospect of such debauchery.

"Call me 'Sean', of course. I'd feel strange about a woman using 'Mr. Flanagan' while she coupled with me," he smiled pleasantly at her.
