Today's woman has to compete with pixelated nerd fantasy women.

I've lamented before the the twenty something men of today seem to prefer the scantily clad women of Maxim to the nakedidity of Playboy, and now this:

"Carla's not real, mind you. She's a character in Atari's (Research) upcoming action/adventure game "Indigo Prophecy." And she's hardly alone. Seven other video game femmes fatale, heroines and bit characters have once again shimmied out of their clothes for a digital pictorial in the men's magazine."

For the second year in a row, Playboy is featuring video game vixens in a nude thread.

It was bad enough in my day, women having to compete with airbrushed, surgically enhanced women who had all day to hang out in the gym. Today's woman has to compete with pixelated nerd fantasy women.

It all depends on who's attention she's trying to win, I guess. ;)

a friend once told me , he watched She-Ra because every once in awhile you could see up her skirt,, maybe it's not so new

I wouldn't worry. One time, long ago, such things were called "art".

We do the same thing with porn. We idealize sex, looking for the hottest, juiciest, most titllating descriptions we can find, and if we exaggerate and distort reality in the search for the perfect image--if our women are all 44 DD and our men 14 inches; if all orgasms are cataclysmic and simultaneous, if cocks spurt a pint of jizz half the length of a football field--we know it's all in the service of our own little art, our attempt to get ourselves hot.

These videobabes are the same thing. Back when we lived in caves, we used to make chubby little Venuses with huge tits out of clay. Now we use computers. This is just the latest version in our long struggle to get ourselves off.

All I can say is, thank God that 1980's eyebrow thing is gone. They made women look like they must have moustaches.

I am currently crushing on Eva Longoria (who wouldn't be?). I thought her Maxim layout was very sexy and hot and beautiful and all that. Then I found some other pictures of her online. WAY BETTER. Maxim airbrushes, stretches and plumps out all it's models to fit the 'maxim mold'- Holly Marie Combs complained that they gave her Allysa's breasts when she did a pictoral with them. And it's true, they did. What's fucked up is- Holly Marie's breasts might not be every man's fantasy, but she's perfectly beautiful just as she is.

Maxim does so much airbrushing and distortion that there photos often look more like cartoons, or computer game images. They remind me of the old romance novel covers- very realistic paintings (done with a tecnique involving real models who are then 'painted over' sound familliar) that you have to almost squint at to see that they are painted.

It doesn't suprise me that Maxim would over-manipulate these images- it's overall tone comes accross as misogynistic to me. Pushing all women into the same mold is something they do, even without pictures.

Playboy was always a better celebration of the beauty of women. And always (accept maybe in humour) took a respectful tone. They were airbrushed too, of course, but they were never manipulated to the point where they were mere cartoons.

The preceeding statements are just one women's opinion.

Just wanted to add:

If you think Maxim models are hot (and many of them are) try to find them elsewhere and see how much *better* they look without the distortions.

If I were a woman, I'd be you! :)

Playboy has always had virtual girls- Vargas pinups, Little Annie Fannie, and the little Playmate Imp on the jokes page.
Not to mention how many of the models are literally airbrushed with body makeup before they go onto the set. Playboy likes perfectly clear and clean tan lines, for one thing, and perfectly round nipples for another..

True. I'd forgotten about Annie Fannie. I graduated from Mary Ann (Gillians Island) to her as a pre-adolescent.

Good point. But at least the girls underneath are real.

I dated a guy in High school who was in love with Lara Croft from Tomb Raider. All I heard about was Lara Croft. *sigh* I am MUCH hotter than her.

Hmm, Russian women. He's never coming back. During the cold war, they told us russian women were 300 lbs weight lifters.
As if. I just watched US Open.

True, and on top of that, they tend to be far too similar in dimension. Well, at least it would seem so to me. In my fantasy objects, I prefer small-breasted, athletic women. In RL, I only need to be attracted to her, but in women who are meant merely to be objects...

Playboy seems to almost have one model. They dye her hair and give her colored contacts, then on to the next shoot.

I haven't seen many issues of Perfect 10, but the one I have here... A []much[/i] better interpretation, IMO.
