Don't forget the Monaco Grand Prix.

Barrichello mounts Raikkonen.
Coulthard comes first despite leaking from the mid point.
Button nerfs Panis.

Something about the drone of engines and memories of Jackie Stuart (The CAR is SMMMMMOKING) fills me with content.

Jeff Gordon is a fag. Earnhardt too.

Gordon is but Earnhardt was a good guy and you should not speak ill of the dead.

I'm not. I am talking about Junior. The dead are dead.

I grew up in the Indy area, and my dad's company did a lot of work for the Indy car teams back in the '60s and '70s. Back when it was pure and golden and exciting. I spent so much time at the ol' Brickyard in my youth that it sickens me to see what a shadow of its former self the Indy 500 has become. Jesus, they've even got stock cars racing there now. Another sign that the apocalypse is near.

I went once,

had nice tickets, between the third and fourth turns, got to see them coming and going.

The first twenty laps were okay, as were the last five. The middle 170? [yawn]. I'm sure it's much more interesting when you're behind the wheel.

The excitement level varies from year-to-year. Or it did when I used to go.

I did get to take a couple of laps around the track once. Not in an Indy car, of course, but in a Shelby Cobra GT. My dad did work for Ford Racing Division, and knew Shelby personally. After the track closed one evening, they let me take one out for a spin. Told me to keep it under 120, and I'd be okay. Thrill of a lifetime, I must say.

Growing up in jacksonville, the Brumos Porcshe dealer was an IMSA racer named Peter Gregg. He and Hurley Haywood dominated the 24 hours of Daytona consistantly.

Dad used to get us pit passes. We'd camp out in the in-field for the whole thing and come home with rubber all over us.

IMSA used the road course portion of Daytona in addition to the tri-oval. Wonder why NASCAR won't give that a shot. It's not like people wouldn't tune it, which is what they want.

BTW- Peter walked out into the sand dunes of Ponte Vedra and blew his brains out with a pistol.

They guy had everything anyone could want materially.

Just goes to show.

hamlet mashine

question for you?
my dad worked in de-troit
1 of 4 tool makers that built a ford engine
