This post sparked when over on today's post about success and failures, PoisonPen33 commented that he had finished reposting his 360K word story. 360K words. That's like 1100 pages in paperback format.

I was reader for years before I tried writing here. I've always been amazed by the sheer amount of content here, and how much of it is good and entertaining. Sure, some is more than others, but so what? And it's because of all the authors, many of whom labor away for nothing but maybe a pat on the back.

So as a reader, thank you all for keeping at it--for still plugging away in the face of criticism, for posting here and there when life gets in the way, for writing those sprawling spics with dozens of chapters and hundreds of thousands of words, for those moments that made me laugh, and cry, and shiver in delight.

New year coming up and I hope you all stay with it as long as you are loving what you do. Thank you again!

I cannot presume to accept such accolades on behalf of all writers here, but perhaps I might express my thanks for the readers, the ones who ultimately make this site possible.

A happy 2022 to one and all.

To quote a friend who has been writing since college and is only now getting published reguarly - "Damn, I wish my mid-life crisis was 360K words." :)

All kidding aside, the stories on this site were what got me into attempting to become a writer. It's easy to write a sex scene - it's harder to write the setting around that scene, to create and develop characters to the point where we WANT to see them get it on. Sometimes it's the leadup to the sex, sometimes it's the fallout (that one's for you, Peyton), and sometimes it's the ever after happily.

And Lord knows, there have been enough stories, scenes, lines, and characters that have inspired my own...

People say 2022 is going to be a dumpster fire. May it light the way for readers and authors alike!

Me too, well, maybe not for years, but it was stories here that inspired me to get started and write my own, it was the readers here who read my stories and encouraged me, and a lot of others on the AH who offered advise and encouragement along the way. Thanks to each and every one of you :rose: and may you all continue to enjoy your reading and your writing through 2022 and the years that follow

Thank you for your comment. Many of us have come to learn that as is the wont on a site like this that a lot of people take the site and its writers for granted so its nice to hear from those who don't.

Your appreciation is appreciated.

I'm still very much a new writer, so new I feel pretentious calling myself an "author " lol.

So I'll accept the thanks but also add to them by thanking all the writers who's stories I've enjoyed and the few I've gotten into discussions with here, helping answer my stupid questions and offering advice.

Just so you know, your "Black Lotus" was a ray of light in my own private rubber cell.
