To Rewrite or not?

I was never happy with Angel for Christmas form the time that I posted it. It is a good idea, but poorly executed. In October I started working with an editor to rewrite it and combine it with the other two"angel" stories for a longer work that would develop characters better. Partly because rewriting is, for me harder than writing it in the first place; and partly because I am the king of procrastination, I was working on it when "Angel" was nominated for an award that it later won.

Now I don't know whether to finish the rewrite, which would mean that the story that won the award would no longer be here, and I'm not sure that would be right The other thing is that there are 5 more episodes planed in the series as planed, but how they proceed depends on which version I end up with. Oh, and I may have lost the editor that the rewrite started with.

So that is my dilemma, do I finish the rewrite or not. And what about changing an award story that drasticly?

If the story is better for the rewrite, then press-on with it. You can always put a disclaimer at the beginning like "This is an expansion on my award winning story."

Over the years, I have read many novels that started out as rewrites/expansions on award winning short stories. Most are better than their progenitor.
